sophisticated quiet yummy organic/aqualculture – i would highly recommend this place for one that is looking for a romantic, fresh and friendly night. the food was exquisite. the staff was super nice. the place was beautiful. i recommend the branzino and sablefish. ooh and the banana bread pudding was yummy. winelist was also good. also, it was refreshing to find a quiet restaurant on the west side.
Solid Santa Monica dinner spot – I went here with some friends of mine who live nearby. I'm happy to say we had a very nice dinner, despite my hearing mixed reviews previously. The standouts of the evening were Kampachi served on Himalayan salt, pork cheek, sablefish with maple syrup and sake (it sounds strange but it really works) and steak frites. We brought our own wine, but I did thumb through the wine list - it is excellent. We ended with the fabulous blueberry pie, and yes, it is the chef's mom's recipe. Absolutely del... read more
I really wantedto like it......but the food just sucked!!!!! – The ambiance and decor is nice. The waiter was great. I really wanted to like the place it had a nice feel, but the food was not good. We sampled multiple dishes. The ingredients are great, but the chef mostly just put things together. There was something missing. The best thing we had was the blueberry pie. We found out the owners mom makes it. We ordered three appetizers that were sub par. The grass fed rib eye we ordered smelt and tasted like it was soaked in ... read more
eclectic, delicious – i loved the eclectic menu that committed to as-organic-as-possible choices. i loved my crab salad - creamy, a little spicy, and best of all, it had avocado. the atmosphere is really open and welcoming, and anyone who favors fish over meat (like the people i went with) will enjoy. the truffle french fries taste gorgeous (so rich...so crunchy..oh yes.). a great find!
strike two – Ok, we hated this place the first time we went for more reasons than I have time to discuss here and everyone is saying give it a second chance, it's so much improved and so great, blah blah blah. The food may have gotten worse, the prices have gone up and the decor has only gotten tackier. We eat regularly in New York and Paris and are always telling people how terrible the restaurants are here in L.A. and this one only supports our argument. Lots of hype, high prices, bad service and mediocre food. Soggy fries... read more
Organic and Lovely – I don't know quite how to describe the tasty and creative menu, but it keeps me going back at least 1-2 times a week. I try to eat exclusively organic food, but sometimes "organic and healthy" ends up being "tasteless and boring". Not at 3 on Fourth! I noticed the first time I ate there that all the ingredients are organic, local and of very high quality. Since the menu changes daily, I find the fish is always an excellent and healthy choice. Although I do indulge sometimes and have the steak or the burg... read more
Much improved -- fantastic new menu – I just went to Three on Fourth again, after a really dissapointing first visit. The food, the service, and the menu are all vastly improved. We had a sampling of small and large plates, as well as a cheese plate, and all were delicious. Veggies were fresh and flavorful, fish was fantastically prepared, and the service was superb. Also, a great wine list -- lots of interesting picks from all over. Very highly recommended -- ideal for dates or groups.
The Worst Food, Mean and Slow Service, and Overpriced! – Terrible. Whomever wrote all the favorable reviews must work for the restaurant. As a professional chef I know that restaurants often write their own reviews to increase their ratings. Beware! We went for lunch and noticed the exorbitant price of the lobster bisque. Puzzled, we asked the waitress, "why is it so pricey? Does it have a lot of huge chunks of lobster or another special ingredient?" She informed us it had huge chunks of lobster, so we ordered it to split. W... read more
Great Los Angeles Secrete! – I just had one of the best meals I ever had in Los Angeles! The food is fresh, creative, and yummy. We first started off with a lobster bisque. We ordered one because we wanted to share everything and ordered quite a few things to have a nice tasting meal. Our very friendly waitress brought us a second bisque complements from the chef. There goes the idea of not over stuffing myself. But why would I say no to something so yummy that is on the house? 2nd course we had the Sea Urchin scramble eggs ... read more
