I love it there. I tell everyone I know about how they need to join.
Great facility! I love the variety of classes that are offered. It's even better now that the classes are included free with membership. The instructors and other staff members are friendly and helpful. Compared to other gyms in the area, I feel that the membership is a good value for everything it includes. I don't have children, but I know friends that do appreciate the family friendly atmosphere and available babysitting.
I think the Lima YMCA is huge asset to the Lima Community. I take the Les Mills Body Pump Class as well as the CX Worx class. Both are a great work out and I love the people you meet in the classes. I count the people I know from the YMCA as close friends and I do things with them outside of the YMCA too. I think the exercise room offers a good variety of machines to use and if you want to try something you've never done, just ask, someone is always available to teach you.
The male basketballs are pretty cheap unfortunately. I understand the local kids kick the new ones and make them deform, but I wish they'd purchase nicer male basketballs and simply punish whoever kicks them. Outside of that, it's a very nice facility.
I researched all Lima's exercise options before I joined the YMCA. Why the Y? They have all the new technology equipment, no waits for machines, tons of class options, clean locker rooms, friendly staff! Price wise with the huge selection they have to offer I felt the cost was very affordable compared to other gyms. Give it a try- your heart and your scale will thank you!
Different prices for age groups. If you're older they charge you more. Very unfair practice. Because I'm 34 I have to pay an extra $20? This is not right. I can see discounts based on military, financial assistance for those in need, etc... but based on age alone and no other reason? The same membership for a person I work with, who's salary is exactly the same but without kids, shouldn't be cheaper.
Great place to go for me and my kids. Plenty of staff makes me feel the kids are safe. Friendly people and just a really nice, well kept place.
