About this business

This low-key Rick Bayless eatery is inspired by Mexican street taco stands. Bayless serves up creative tortas, sandwiches, and a number of caldos (soups), sure to warm anyone up on a cold winter day. The pozole is a healthier take on the traditional dish. The pozole is made with chicken instead of pork, and though it is usually served on weekends at most Mexican eateries, here it's served here daily. The ever-popular tortas are placed on a crunchy French bread that, while not the typical bread used in this traditional sandwi... read more

Reasonably priced walk in order at the counter lunch in River North. As alway with Rick, explosive flavors.

Guacamole with pumpkin seeds and bacon...Outstanding! The Tortas were delicious! Our table tried a few; the Cuban, Milanese and the Baja - we shared them all - each unique and each terrific! We still couldn't make up our minds which was our favorite. We are already planning on going back. The torta bread was the best we've had!

The great food went well with the good music that was playing on the system.

Good food at a reasonable price, the churros and the hot chocolate are a most. Caldos and tortas are the specialty. Great variety of domestic and imported beer from Mexico.

Great food but seriously with the margaraitas? $10 for a teeny tiny glass that's mostly ice.
