The food and service was excellent. We ordered the Avalon Roll, the Guiseppe pizza and they were both very tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and patient with us taking our time ordering.
The location sells this hotel. We have been coming here for vacation for quite a few years. Service is always good. The staff was very attentive and personable. Food is average with lots of choices but yes as others have said it is pricey. Staying on the east side of the hotel this year was a disappointment because of all the noise that starts at approximately 6 a.m. Numerous truck deliveries for both hotels take place on this side of the hotel. We have been coming to Avalon for an annual early summer vacation for years. A part of the ritual is to hit the Winddrift on our last night to the bar. The prices are a little high but to be expected for the atmosphere etc. Usually it's the same lame teenish bartenders, bland, no conversation and don't know their drinks. Tonight our group was greeted by Tony on the first floor bar. Tony was entertaining, knowledgable and had great Avalon and Winddrift history. The bartender made our night!
Beautiful location and the décor is very nice. Food is overpriced (even more so in 2016) and below average at both the beach and second levels. We have had better food in the piano bar. Service has been below average. Hoping it gets better as the location is great.
I am not one to ever complain, especially having worked in the hospitality industry for many years, but I feel it necessary to share the horrible experience we had last night with management. My friend and I visited the Wind Drift for dinner and drinks and in total spent around $200. We both ordered shrimp Caesar salads, one with Kale and one regular.
