Dr Shoemaker has been my primary for five years. The wait time is under 10 minutes, usually five. I tend to ask a lot of questions and he answers all of them. I do not ever feel rushed or unheard. He is on his referrals. Appointments were same day, Pre-Covid, but lately the wait for an appointment is longer. I have nothing negative to say. Recommend him completely.
Dr Shoemaker is one of the most caring, considerable, passionate , good well mannered doctor we ever met and very opposite with regards to his staff especially some of his MEDICAL ASSTS. super rude. (Just be careful guys) This is the reason why we had to look for another doctor like him. We just love Dr Shoemaker??
I have been a patient with Dr. Shoemaker since 1996. I have not been to his office since 1/2017. when I called to make an appointment for a physical I was told by a very rude receptionist that he does not take new patience. I told her I have been with the Dr. for over 20 years. She ask if I am still with MGM when I told her no she replied oh he is corporate now and after two year I would be considered a new patient, but could see one of two other doctors there. Dr. Shoemaker was only concerned about addressing things that he thought was important and did not put much thought into things that I felt was important. I have a chronic cough so Dr. Shoemaker ordered a chest x-ray that showed my lungs were fine. Because my x-ray was fine, he did not look any further and dropped my concern. Dr. Shoemaker also said to me that I have a Hiatle Hernia while two years later a specialist said that you cannot diagnose it from an x-ray instead I needed to have an Endoscopy done. Dr Shoemaker is among the finest physicians I've ever had anywhere (I've lived in NY, DC, and San Francisco), and without a doubt the very best doctor I've been to in Las Vegas. Extremely smart, thoughtful, conscientious, skilled, knowledgeable, and effective. Most of the office staff is very good. Carmen, ostensibly his medical assistant, seems either possibly to have either some cognitive issues or perhaps a language cognition barrier, which makes it very challenging to convey simple messages to the doctor.
