My 78‑year‑old mother visited Dr. Niemi for treatment of an ingrown toenail after being referred by her UNC primary care provider. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Dr. Niemi appeared dismissive of her concerns and provided minimal attention to the issue. He briefly trimmed the tops of her toenails and suggested she get a pedicure, which is not a practical option given her mobility limitations. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Niemi. I have been a patient at this practice for over 30 years. Dr. Milner was my doctor and I received wonderful care over the years. He retired so I switched to Dr. Niemi. At the end of February 2025, I had a hammer toe consult. He recommended the toes be corrected so surgery was scheduled. All appeared normal. They assured me they would bill insurance for supplies (boot, ankle supports) when they could have told me in advance that it was not covered by insurance. Do not sign any agreement to pay for supplies not covered. I should have insisted it was verified with insurance before I left the office. All throughout the office you will see signs that state any abusive behavior against office staff is not tolerated. I can in for a fitting of my $360 shoe inserts and paid the office visit . Dr Neimi says I don’t do that and it’s up to you to trace and fit them yourself.. wrong!! I called the manager and she said that’s the whole purpose of coming back to see the doctor to be fitted.! I filed a claim with my insurance .
Dr Niemi is thorough and knowledgeable -and he cracks me up (funny). Highly recommend.
