About this business

Specialties So what is this place all about? We still recall the day a number of years ago when a table of rambunctious regulars proclaimed, "We have voted Wild Abandon the most unpretentious restaurant in Portland!" That's a title we live up to every day. In short, we're a super casual neighborhood spot with great drinks, killer eats, and a staff that's excited to share them with you. Our menu includes lots of comfort food and casual fare with international flair, and we offer plenty of options for people with all different... read more

Happy Hour is the Best – Unbelievable deals for happy hour in a cozy, romantic setting...who could ask for more? Drink specials are off the hook, and the salads are the best in town. Service is standard for Portland...but they are great about larger groups.

A great hole in the wall on Belmont... – I love this place. Very reasonably priced, good service, friendly staff, cozy/artsy environment, get seated quickly. Let's keep it our little secret, shall we? Its nice to get the same high quality dishes for our Sunday brunch outings. The chefs create tasty, healthy meals and they don't skimp on the servings. I have repeatedly received attentive service at Wild Abandon. The owner is often on site to make sure things are going swimmingly. Bon appetite.

A decadent, romantic treat! – Wild Abandon is a rare, inviting and beautiful place to eat. My boyfriend and I discovered it on our way to a formal event at the nearby Melody Ballroom and our meal there made the night even more special. It is the perfect date restaraunt, dressed up or dressed down- I can't stop telling friends about the Risotto dish with coconut milk and red and yellow pepper sauce! Desserts are very rich. Food is prepared with fresh and tasty ingredients - it is obvious that the chefs take pride in their uni... read more

Outdoor Happy Hour Besides having a cutting-edge menu to accommodate Portland's vanguard taste buds, Wild Abandon is a very affordable way to enjoy an early evening. Wild Abandon's happy hour menu includes great cheap eats and drinks from 4:30pm-6:30pm on weekdays minus Tuesdays. Best way to go is with a friend, chicken skewer, and a carafe of their Sangria. It'll cost you as much as a Pabst and fries at any dive bar.

A perfect 'date' place Even though we are married w/ 2 kids, when it's time for 'date night' we still head to our favorite 'date' place, Wild Abandon. Very unassuming from the outside. Kind of dive looking but still makes you wonder what is inside. It's been there for at least 10 years..that's when my boyfriend, now husband, first brought me there. Wonderful homemade noveau cuisine. Homemade ravioli and other pasta, dessert to die for and an incredible ambience. The chef/ owner also serves as wait staff.

Abandon Yourself! – Quaint, tiny place with red velvet booths is so cozy, welcoming and romantic! The beauty of it is that at any given point you may be surrounded with other loungers on the back porch drinking the homemade sangria (spicey)...or...you may have the entire place to yourselves and be able to feel as comfortable as you would at your own home (were it staffed by discreet and informative servers). The food is upscale comfort food, everything delicious and desserts are to die for.

Am I missing Something? – I chose this place because of the high rating - it was #10 for pete's sake! We showed up at 6pm on a Friday and were the only people there. They served warm water, a nasty tasting sangria, and the place smelled old and musty. The food was decent, but NOT what I was expecting.

Highly Recommend – I went for Sunday brunch, really loved the convenience, food, atmosphere, art, and music. Would highly recommend.

Off Night?? – We waited about 20 minutes past our 8pm reservation time for a seat, which was understandable given it's such a tiny place. The menu offerings sounded great, but the prawn appetizer was burnt and flavorless (they removed that from the bill). The Willamette salad was pretty good, but both our entrees were horrible. My boyfriend ordered the wild salmon with jasmine rice and veggies and ate only the veggies because the salmon was overcooked and tough and the rice looked like Uncle Ben's. My chicken and dumplings w... read more
