Amazing View, Great Food, Classy Service – My wife and I are always looking for the diamond in the rough when it comes to great dinner places and we definitely found one at West. It is on the top floor of the Hotel Angeleno in Brentwood and the elevator lets you out right at the host counter. We arrived with a reservation and the hostess informed us she would seat us in ten minutes. She then walked us into the lounge and asked if we would feel more comfortable waiting in there. What? Poor value, poor wine list, bland food, not worth the money, snobby chef - for no reason! – I was really looking forward to this place, but was so disappointed. We spent 180.00 on dinner for 2. I had 2 drinks, my husband drove so nothing for him. I looked at the wine list and it was not very good. The list was over priced and choices few. The food was so bland. rude staff, good ambience, no lines – I like the ambience at West. Nice view (yes, even if it's of the 405) and no hassles getting in. The lounge menu is ok. The service, however, is horrible. Waitresses are slow and rude. They seem to be doing you a favor by even bringing you the overpriced drinks. We ordered a sandwich that came with fries. No ketchup. I had to ask for it twice. Great Atmosphere – We were two couples, went on a Saturday night. The place has a cool vibe, the decor is posh - and love the comfortable chairs. No problem getting our table. Great acoustics, we were able to talk without shouting. As the night evolved the music level goes up, lights went down, I thought very nicely timed. How could they forget to bring out the dessert without the birthday candles in it????? – My girlfriend and I brought my mom to West to celebrate her 65th birthday tonight. YUCK! – I don't mind spending $$$ if a place has good food or good atmosphere - this place has neither! I go out 4x a week and I can't remember being this upset after a meal. I even signed up on Citysearch so that I could leave this message!!! Food = OK. Service = TERRIBLE. Rude - slow - snobby (but they have NOTHING to be snobby about!) Don't go.
Don't even think about it. – If I had to figure out a word to describe this restaurant, over rated would be an understatement. The food portions were very small, the prices were exhorbitant, the food was poorly cooked and the service was terrible. It took 30 minutes just to get our drinks. GREAT VIEW, LOVE THE LOUNGE, CHEF IS AWESOME – Perfect place if you want to hang out in the lounge have a few drinks and some food. Or get a table with a beautiful view around sunset, but make reservations ahead of time for the a good spot. Great food & Wine selection, the chef even came out and introduced himself and asked how were enjoying our meal, and recomended a fantastic dessert for us to try.
