The West Restaurant and Lounge is perched on the penthouse level of The Hotel Angeleno. It's an Italian steakhouse, where you can feast on thick-cut steaks, chops, salads and roasts along with hearty pastas. Also the floor to ceiling windows give for a spectacular view. Don't forget to order some wine to give your meal that extra edge. WEST also has live music occasionally, check website for details and timings.

Sophisticated Swanky Brentwood Spot – Sophisticated, swanky spot with gorgeous views of Brentwood, modern furniture, great atmosphere... perfect for a date! Very "Hollywood" without the attitude... or commute! Small but decent wine list and good assortment of cockails. The food was just so-so. Was not impressed. Crowd was in the 30s-40s on a Thursday night.
Amazing. just AMAZING – I've had some great meals, The Ivy, Mastro's etc. I recently met my girlfriends for dinner at West at their suggestion and I can't wait to go back! We started at the bar where the bartender was friendly and attentive. he chose a great Cabernet for me. We convened to the table where we had an excellet waitress who was able to give her opinion on several of the dishes. We ordered Antipasti to share. the Crostini, smoked mozzarella and something I didn't try. We had the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer and... read more
Lousey Service – Went for Sunday Birthday Brunch. Service was lackluster at best. The restaurant was not busy at all, but getting the waitress to come by was near impossible. We waved at the hostess who was in view, but she was too busy looking at herself in the mirror to notice us. I guess she had a pimple that was bothering her. The waitress just disappeared for extended periods. We asked for some bread and instead of bring a basket of bread for the table, they brought a basket and asked each guest to select one. The waitr... read more
Best Kept Secret! – I celebrated my 25th birthday here on Saturday night and it couldn't have been better! My boyfriend made reservations in advance and we were seated with a great view. We happened to meet the new chef in the elevator, he was friendly and told us about his special of the evening. I ordered it and it was AMAZING! Everything I've ordered here has been great. The fondue dessert is particularly impressive and serves a whole table of people! What's even better is the bar. The Maitre D was very attentive and rese... read more
Good food, slow service – I thought all the food was tasty. Crab cakes, lamb, filet mignon. They were all good. The service was not that great and I rarely comment about service. The food took maybe 20 minutes. I didn't get water. They didn't clear the dishes. Not horrible, just not very attentive. The restaurant itself is nice, but the acoustics inside make it louder than most places and you have to talk louder because they have music playing. By the way, they only have valet parking. I am not a big fan of valet parking.
What a change!!!! – Wow!! How this place improved. It always had a fantastic view, now the food and service measures up to skyline. We started dinner with antipasti, perfect! What a great new selection. I could have been satisfied with just them all night. You must try the mini eggplant parmesan. My wife had the crab cake, best we've ever had. It was so good I made her share it. I had the chop salad. I really loved the dressing and feta combo. For entrees she had the fish special (bass) and I had the bone-in NY steak. My mea... read more
brilliant, simply brilliant – As a point of interest, I enjoy a meal through a website; to follow the hype, the ritz and most of all, the public?s perception of ?what?s good? and ?what?s bad?. I?m not one for taking another?s word about a place so I venture there myself to find out if my companion?s opinion is just expressing a culinary morose view or if they truly have something to say. Under the supposition of the last two posts titled ?disappointing? and ?unbelievably bad? (the latter whose nomenclature does not accuratel... read more
Disappointing – The service was slow, our waitress couldn't open a twist off wine bottle and had to go get help. This was after we had to ask for a wine list. The food was just adequate. The lamb chops were nothing special served with a polenta parmesan which had too much parmesan. John Dorry was nothing special. The Kobe beef carpaccio had a over-powering sauce on it which isn't needed. The views would be better if the windows weren't tinted dark. The bar was nice and the best views are from the lounge. We had to wait nearl... read more
unbelievably bad – We had a terrible meal there a few weeks ago. When I wrote the manager, he immediately wrote back, apologized, and requested another try. This second was an entirely different experience: good steaks, lots of nice touches (like the red wine dipping sauce), all kinds of tasty li'l treats (beef ravioli was memorable; some equally yummy things I couldn't fully identify). It's encouraging (and vanishingly rare) to see a restaurateur who admits imperfection, and has the faith to let his food redeem itself. Next... read more
