Ventura is an ode to the blending of tradition with modern affordances. Mark and Kathy Hartley set out to create a restaurant that follows this model. All is housed inside a building that dates back to the 1920s on property dating back to the 1900s that has been transformed into a modern masterpiece. Throughout the restaurant and rooftop lounge one can easily find a synthesis of old and new. Priceless murals depicting the Camino Real from the 1920s stare down at tables reserved through an online reservation system. Top shelf ... read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! Can I say WOW!!!!!!!!!!! – WOW, is pretty much all I have to say. When I first walked in my mouth dropped to the floor. Everything from the decor to the service was WOW!!!!!!! Not only will I be back, maybe their new #1 customer, but I will refer them to my friends, family, and even people I don't even know. If you haven't been in yet, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!
Impressive atmosphere, exquisite dishes and gracious staff! – I have treated myself to The Watermark/ W20 Restaurant on many occasion. I constantly refer my friends and colleauges to expierence the tremendous job they have done from top to bottom. The building itself is remarkable, the food is exquisite (my favorite being the lamb) and the staff is more than accomidating and friendly! As a resident of Ventura County for almost 25 years, I am truely grateful to have such a brilliant establishment right here in town. Last Sund... read more
An Experience Worth Reliving... Again and Again – WOW! Food could not be better in my opinion. The beautifully remastered historic landmark fits in perfectly with the pristine beach scene of Ventura. We were greeted warmly by not only the hostesses at the door, but by a precession of smiling faces and friendly hellos from near by wait staff. The hostess showed us to our table, letting us know the amazing history of the building along the way and even offerred us a full tour after dinner. We were greeted right away by a frien... read more
Terrible Management - Mean, Rude & Very Arrogant – The food was good. The building and decor are beautifully done. But the management is absolutely terrible! These people are rude and arrogant and I will never go to this restaurant again. For what they charge for their food and drinks they should be aware that they are NOT the only restaurant/bar in town. The manager needs lessons on how to treat people. She is an arrogant brat who should not be managing ANYTHING!
We've really tried to like this place, but bad service, loud disstasteful background music, too busy and garish decor, coupled with inflated prices, medicore drinks and horribly bad food, really make this place an assounding disappointment. That being said, there are much better restaurants and lounges in Ventura. This one, sadly, is destined to fail. While, we promote the downtown area whenever we can, this restaurant is clearly not worthy. No hard or harsh feelings, but to put it mildly, we'll never be back. In fact, Water... read more
not happy – Forget going to the watermark if you're mexican or black. The head bartender and the owner will be more than happy to let you know that you are not welcome. The red and white (look it up in wiki) has stepped it up a notch in Ventura. So sad.
best thing that has happened to downtown ventura. – the dark woods, pictures & restoration of something historic all add to the ambiance. been twice and loved it; the 1st time i felt like i was in a new york or chicago setting. the top floor is a gathering place for upscale singles and couples. first time we sat and the bar and had a light dinner which was excellent. the 2nd time we had reservations and the service was the best. going back againt this weekend.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Housed in a 1920s bank building in downtown Ventura's vibrant historic district, hand-stenciled wood ceilings, vintage chandeliers and golden marble floors frame a breathtaking two-story room gleaming in rich tones of copper, green and rust. Restored murals depict Ventura Mission life to create a romantic atmosphere for the well-heeled crowd that comes to wine and dine in style. An upscale modern American menu features local seafood like Santa Barbara prawns in Ciopino while other dishes include... read more
NOT A WARM WELCOME – My, friend an I spend a lot of weekends in Venture downtown. We watched this being built and were excited to see it open.We walked in and at the guest stand were two women and a grey haired gentleman. We said ' Hello' and we got no eye contact, no smile and a cold ' can I help you" . We asked about the seating and they said bottom floor and the bar was there, and pointed to it. We asked about the up stairs and she said we could go up. We started up and discovered we could not go up we both had shorts on ... read more
