This practice is absolutely phenomenal. When we tragically and unexpectedly lost our dog about a month ago due to a massive seizure, Wake was so compassionate and was waiting for us when we arrived. Their compassion throughout the process did not go unnoticed, and we appreciated their swiftness in returning his remains to us so quickly. We had a nightmare experience with another local emergency vet prior to this, and Wake was a breath of fresh air in an already stressful event.
Go to BluePearl instead. Much better compassion and customer service. They call you for updates when they say they will unlike the staff at Wake Vet that you have to hunt down for answers and they act annoyed that you are concerned about your pet. BluePearl is now my first choice.
My pup had diarrhea for a few days after bringing him home which can be normal, but suddenly he began vomiting around 1:00 am. I called Wake Veterinary to get the thumbs up to bring him in and my pup was being seen less than an hour later. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and the vet we saw (I don’t remember the name) took time to tell me what tests they could do, but advised my pup didn’t seem sick and further tests weren’t necessary. We took our Maltese in on 3/16 with an infection. The full examination, antibiotics, and pain medication cost $650. The doctor recommended euthanasia. At the time, we did feel compassion from the practice, even if at a premium. The good news is that our Maltese is still hanging on to life 6 days later! She is a fighter! We are glad we didn’t follow the recommendation to euthanize!
