Just Above Average – Ambiance: cozy. Service: good. Food: good but not good enough to come back. The signature wild boar and the beef cheek ravioli were good, but not spectacular. I had to send the caramel napoleon (dessert) back. The puff pastry layers were raw and unbaked. There was no caramel flavor at all. We liked Volterra, but didn't love it.

Delicious Brunch – We recently had brunch at Volterra and had an excellent meal. The french toast was awesome, the chestnut pancakes were great, and Volterra served us perhaps the most amazing bacon I have ever eaten. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal and I know I will definitely go back. I can think of no drawbacks; we were seated promptly, the staff was friendly and helpful and the ambiance is very nice. I look forward to trying their dinner menu.

Our favorite restaurant – I am disappointed to see that some people have had substandard experiences at Volterra. My fiance and I absolutely love this restaurant. We started going their when it first opened and have gone countless times since. Their food is always delicious, my fiance swears by the wild boar whereas I like to mix it up and try something new each time. We generally just order a glass or two of wine and sometimes a cocktail, but never a full bottle of wine, and we have never been treated as second rate clients... read more

Cant wait to return – After reading so many reviews of Volterra, I would say the food and overall experience definitely lived up to the hype. Started with the truffle custard with culatello served with micro greens salad on top. It was really good. We then had the special appetizer which was a BLT with brown sugar cured pork belly on brioche with heirloom tomatoes, romaine and garlic aioli. Yum. Next came the tagliolini with morels, fava beans, giuancale and truffle butter. The portion (even when split) was generous. This di... read more

Fantastic Food, Great Wine, Good Value – When we got to the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, we were ushered in like VIPs and were seated at a table that was in the corner allowing us to have easy conversation. The service was friendly. Courses came on time, water glasses were filled quickly, and thankfully no one said, "I'm Joe and I'm going to be your server tonight." The pork belly appetizer was amazing. The lobster risotto with tomato sauce was perfectly cooked but the highlight of the night was the Veal Chop. It... read more

Just delicious – I went for the first time yesterday, it was delicious. I wasn't especially hungry, so the wife and I skipped the appetizers and we each had the house salad, which had plenty of cheeses in a unique and tasty Chianti vinaigrette. My entree was eggplant stuffed in pasta with a spicy red sauce which was just perfect. And for dessert, the Chocolate Pate with the berry salad was one of the best desserts that I have had in awhile. We were seated immediately (we arrived just before 6PM on Friday, it filled up quickl... read more

Volterra not so 'Greaterra' in my book. Read on. – I love great food and obsess about it all the time. And yet, when the experience is a little too formulaic and the service is cold, bordering on rude, that ruins any good work from the kitchen. While the food was tasty enough, no dishes made me want to return for more. What really bothered me however was the attitude of our server. Pleasant enough at the beginning, when it was clear we weren't going to order multiple courses, I knew we were in for second class treatment. Whe... read more

Comfortable and Delicious – The food is excellent, place is beautiful, and the service is good. We went early on a Saturday right at 5pm because we couldn't get in at any other time. The waitstaff was very attentive, knowledgable, and professional! The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's not a white linen type of place. It feels more like an upscale trattoria you find in Milan or Florence. The seating for 2 looked a little close to each other but very European. This was the best bread I've ever had in my life, which sounds ... read more

Delicious Food Great Service – We went to Volterra for the first time this week and were quite impressed. Our wine person helped us pick the perfect wine in our price range and was extremely helpful pairing it with the menu items we ordered. The polenta was out of this world! We were alittle afraid to order the sauted salad with anchovies but, to our surprise we loved it. I didn't even know I liked anchovies. The best dish was the wild boar tenderloin that we had heard so much about. The sauce was rich and the prefect compli... read more
