Stay away- unless you enjoy 300% markups and made up prices The story- I'm a young guy and asked to see an inexpensive bicycle that would get me there. I told him no frills- just didn't want it to fall apart on me. I said I had no interest in brand, color, and just wanted a piece of metal with wheels that would take me from A to B.

I told him no frills- just didn't want it to fall apart on me. I said I had no interest in brand, color, and just wanted a piece of metal with wheels that would take me from A to B. I get priced $200 for their least expensive option. Yeah, found bikes for a third the price at other places in the city. The sad thing is they have some joke sign out front about ripping people of... read more
Philly style silver lining Just went there today. Last week someone stole my sweet, much loved and much relied upon bicycle. So as one might imagine I went into buying a replacement super grumpy. I have very little time to shop around for a bike and I don't really have the money to buy one either. Furthermore, any bike I can afford to buy could never come close to the sweetness of my old one which was a gift. So long story short I was set up to be a super tough customer. However, the guys at Via were pretty nice, down to ear... read more
Terrible All I have to say is Bad Bad Bad ! Had just moved from CO to Philly, I was out on a ride, long story short, walked out of this shop blown away over how this place is even in business let alone having the claim to be the oldest bike shop in Philly. I have been riding for many years and have never ran into this much attitude.I managed several bike shops in CO and never, did I ever run into a more disorganized shop full of over-inflated egos and just flat out rude people. I really think the owner should put down the bo... read more
overpriced but large selection of vintage bikes The guy that owns this place is a character. In that he will belittle his employees in front of customers. He also charges crazy amount for bikes. However, the repair prices aren't bad and the selection is really good. A lot of old schwinns.
WARNING: DANGEROUS REPAIRS Ok so here's the story: I bought my girlfriend a nice old schwinn at a yardsale, and the chain broke, so we took it down to via. The wait was a bit long, which, as i'm not an impatient yuppie addicted to big-box stores, i'm okay with. One of the employees said that instead of replacing the chain, they would just replace one link (and charge us just as much). I was hesitant, since the chain had lots of nicks in it, and i told the guy so, but he insisted that things would be fine.
good shop My accounts with via have always been fair, if not great. When I first started riding a cruiser I was forced to deal with via for repairs(the only other store that I know of that carries parts to repair them is Firehouse in west philly). I was nervous, the one time I had been in there before the owner made me feel anxious. It's true, it's not a great place to just kind of 'browse'. However, they were able to repair my bike quit well and at a reasonable cost. Over the years I have become much more interested in bike... read more
Rude, rude, rude! The two times I've been to Via Bicycle have convinced me never to bother with them again. The first time I had to wait so long for service, being ignored by all the sullen, self-important assistants, that I gave up and left.
What a jerk! the owner was a jerk, we went in to look at the vintage frames, but were pushed around and asked what ARE YOU LOOKING AT?! we wanted to ask how much the frame was but he wanted 250 for an old steel frame. way over priced, i know i could have gotten it for less on craigslist. i also looked at u-locks which were also overpriced at like $45. i could get those cheaper on ebay or craigs as well. the shop is very, very disorganized, messy, and very cramped. i wouldn't recomend it to anyone
