About this business
The history of the Greenhouse goes back approximately 100 years. In the early 1900's it began as a six room apartment house. In 1932 during prohibition it was known as a speakeasy. In the late 30's and early 40's it became a tavern serving patrons on occasion such as the notorious Dillinger and friends. From the 1950's to the present it has been the most popular summer spot in town with the attraction of a beer garden facing the ocean. The Greenhouse has survived two major storms in 1944 and 1962. Sat at the outside bar... I ordered a Manhattan, my friends got a Bloody Mary and white wine, the tab was $40.50. I nearly fell off my stool....the Manhattan & Bloody Mary were $15 each, n the wine was $10.50. Needless to say I was broke after that round. Never again!!!!!
This was our second time eating here this summer the first time I was not overly impressed but wanted to give it another try as we love Ventura's offshore and live with in walking distance but this experience was unacceptable. We ordered drinks and also both requested water . Drinks arrived but no water. My daughter ordered the crab cake sandwich and it had a very "fishy"smell and tasted terrible. Not one meal has ever disappointed me, absolutely delicious. Love the staff too �
Kenny makes the best drinks and the food is great up stairs in side�����
One of my favorite places to hangout/dinner. I always share with family/friends at our summer stay down the shore.
