GOOD EXPERIENCE My fur son Junior is 12 years old and has been in general good health. Our vet of many years retired and I had a need, a very good friend recommended Dr. Johnson at Van Aken and the rest is history, we were treated well and Junior was treated as a family member not just a pet. not good at all Van Aken hospital is horrible in the way they treat people. When I brought our two cats in to get spayed- they wanted us to get our cats vaccinated. I told her we did that at the humane society. Then the doctor asked if I had my records, I told her not with me... I am not sure if she assumed I was lying because then the doctor preceeded to say. Don't let Suzanne perform surgeries on your pet I don't recommend the place. The office is trashy. I lost my pet due to Dr Suzanne surgery. The way she and her staff broke the news was so unprofessional. Before the surgery Suzanne and her staff were very convincing that my dog needed surgery and it seemed like they care. Once finding out my dog passed away, Suzanne and the office treated the incident as if it was nothing. I received no calls and had to find out the news by showing up at the office. the only vet that cares about your pets health not your wallet! I love dr. johnsen! Ive been going to Van Aken for over 8 years, she has helped us threw my boxers cancer, put our brittnay to sleep comfortably, taken care of countless cats that she helps us save. She cured my dogs parvo for a low price, and helps me find animals homes so we dont have to take them to the shelter! she stands behind her work, and she makes sure all our pets are cared for. Horror stories complaints have been filed against her dr. johnsen is a MONSTER!!!!! She is insane. The type of insanity that needs to be treated with a psychiatrist. She is rude, unfriendly, and many animals have DIED under her care. She LOVES CUTTING ANIMALS OPEN. I believe that's also part of her insanity and crazyness. Info from the inside If you want the nitty-gritty, here it is. I worked at this clinic for a long time. I got to know the staff, the clients, and the way of the work. With the exception of one, the technicians are payed $8 an hour, they're hired without work experience because this hospital's ways just cannot be compared to anothers, and the office manager (Tony) knows very well that an educated technician would NOT put up with Doctor J, much less the working conditions. You think the outside is bad? Try working there! I started working for van aken last year and can't even begin to tell you how horrible it was. If you think the outside is bad, try working in the back!!! There are NEEDLES left all over the place for one!!! I was appalled at that! It's such a safety hazard to the animals. I didn't have too many problems with Dr. Johnsen but I''ve seen her curse everyone out numerous times and tell them how stupid and useless they are as employees. FILTHY building, insane vet! I found a feral kitty right before Christmas of '09. 'Big King' was starved, had ringworm all over him, and had an eyeball that was severely infected. Dr. Johnsen saw him, did a quick skin test, estimated his age for me and then told me to bring him back when he was cleared of the skin infection and had put on some weight so she could neuter him and take the eyeball out. Well meaning but filthy I applied for a job at this clinic around 2006 and worked there for one day. If you think the parts you can see are dirty you wouldn't believe the parts you can't see. It looks like an episode of Hoarders in places in the back. It stinks like disease and the contagious animals (a huge numbers of Parvo cases come through there) are not well separated from the others.
