Vain and Joey are Amazing – I moved to Austin almost two years ago, and always had horrible hair cut experiences. In fact my first hair cut in Austin was a nightmare! I cried for hours afterwards and it took months to grow out. My roommate finally convinced me to go to her stylist, Joey. Most creative stylists – I followed Shawna from Wet and she has never failed to surprise me. I never know what I want and she consistently offers cut/color suggestions that allow me to go fun and funky without sacrificing a professional look.
Coolest, Niftiest Salon Ever. – I used to get my hair done by Shawna when she was at Wet, so I followed her over to Vain. She is a great stylist (especially for platinum blondes!) but when I heard that Joey was the owner I wanted to try getting my hair done from her as well. She gave me an awesome, modern cut and really worked with my countless, unruly cowlicks, so I know she knew what she was doing. (Of course, I'll now be bouncing between her and Shawna.) I wish them all the best and welcome a new business to the eastside!
Extremely poor customer service! – My stylist Joey was 30 minutes late and my appointment with Sarah with for an eyebrow wax was cancelled without notification. To top it all off, they charged my credit card $12 more than I authorized! Do not go here! They are extremely disorganized!

This girl knows how to cut curly hair! – I love Sara Thompson- a stylist at Vain! I followed her to Vain from another salon, and would continue going to her if I was still in Texas. She cut my hair for a year and a half, and I enjoyed the experience so much that I would drive from Houston to Austin just for her haircuts. It doesn't get any better... – I followed my stylist Crystal to Vain from another salon and was totally blown away. The salon itself is very cool (very clean and comfortable ), the staff is awesome (very friendly and accomodating- one of the best shampoo jobs I have ever had) and the prices are more than reasonable AND - most importantly for downtown- there's parking. Oh, and my hair has never gotten so many compliments...happy client, happy hair. I would never go anywhere else.
Joey and her staff ROCK! – Joey has been my stylist/colorist for almost three years - she is a true artist and I can't say enough good things about her and the wonderful staff at Vain! Congrats on the gorgeous, fun new salon.
