Some new foods I haven't tried before, so we had fun with that. SAFETY ISSUE: The operators of the adventure ride that whips people around in the air are not asking riders to empty their pockets. How do I know? Because an open buck knife came flying at us. And also a cell phone came flying out from the ride. With the velocity those rides are going, that is super dangerous, and there were several people standing in the vicinity. Glad no one got stabbed with the knife. Meh. Not impressed. Went to the California State Fair this year too which was 3 times the size AND less expensive. All in all the Utah State Fair seems to be about the size and quality of a county fair.
I had a great time at the fair on Friday! The circus was awesome and the rides were a blast. Thanks Utah!
We have been coming to the state fair for a number of years with the junior livestock. They have done a great job fixing up several of the historic buildings- we look forward to seeing more of them done. The Barnyard Friends exhibit is amazing! They could easily triple the size of it and it would still be packed. I felt like there were plenty of food options and the Pork Producers and Cattlemen's Luncheon were a fantastic deal; DELISH! We really enjoyed the evening, but it is so expensive to get in with your family and parking you do not have $$ to spend with the vendors.
I haven't been to the Utah State Fair in over 30 years. We went every year when I was growing up and I loved it. Now it seemed more like a swap meet. The souvenirs I wanted to buy, couldn't find any! Not very many animals. We did love the baby animals though. Just wasn't the fair atmosphere I remember!
