I just underwent a colonoscopy at the University GI clinic, and I must say I was quite impressed. As a nurse myself, I can be rather a harsh critic of my colleagues. However, every single person I interacted with was kind, compassionate, professional, had a great sense of humor, and seemed to genuinely love their job. My sister Vera Childress Horton is a patient in this hell hole. She went to university medical center yesterday 6/1/18, she was admitted for observation. She fell in her hospital room while trying to go to the bathroom and sustained injury to her forehead and had to get sutures. Her son asked if an incident report had been done last night and he was told an incident report wasn't done. Ummc needs to good better. I arrived Thursday morning about 815. I had to wait over 15/20min for help out of the car. No wheelchairs in ER. Was in the ER until almost 7pm. Not a cracker or piece of bread was given to me. The nurse on 2north room 214 clocking out gave me a sandwich.. I was limited to walking because of a chest tube place in me for a collapsed lung. I started dealing with UMMC and staff last year in October after finding out about my pregnancy. Since I have heart failure I was recommended to their doctors because they were "best" to serve me because of my high risk situation. I went into the Womens Urgent Care on Tuesday evening. I brought my mom to your ER tonight. She can barely walk, her sugar was high, her legs keep going numb , sometimes they will go completely numb and she can't even move them at all. Which has resulting in her falling on her butt , in the tub (there's more but I respect my mom's privacy) We sat in the ER for 7 hrs, she had her vitals taken twice , we left as at 1am, she still had 10 people ahead of her.
