RecommendedMy mother passed away on the 26 of this month from covid. The nurses and doctors in the micu did everything possible to give her a chance to live. In the end it was not enough. The virus was stronger and even though she battled bravely the virus got her in the end. I find it disgusting, an obscenity of the cruelest kind, that you would send me a letter threatening to forward my outstanding bill of $63.54 to a collection agency at this time. After years of struggling to pay off an enormous bill - which I did pay off -you turn around and begin once more the process of a legalized shakedown. I’ll pay the bill. In the meantime the person responsible for that bullying, indifferent letter should be dismissed.
I have had many experiences at this hospital and every one has been amazing. Most recently, my mother had a stroke. The doctors and nurses were amazing in her final days. Everything was explained in detail and all options were given to us. After her passing, we were allowed to stay with her until we felt comfortable leaving. They were respectful of our wishes and so gentle with my mother. They truly care about their patients.
The way they talk and treat patients and their family is absolutely horrible. This has been the most horrible experience I have ever had.
After an appointment, being told they would do testing, having blood drawn for said testing, insurance billed, and being told that they would call within a certain amount of time with results, it would be nice if the people in the genetics department had the decency to at least tell the patient that they "changed their mind". But no, they "forgot" to tell me until after I called to change my phone number and ask if they had results since it had been past the timespan they gave me. I am so impressed with my doctor. Not only is he brilliant in his field, he is also a super-nice guy. We had just arrived at the hospital, which is HUGE, and we were trying to find elevator bank “H” to get to the MRI clinic. We ran into Dr Dillon in the hallway of another building. HE TURNED AROUND AND WALKED US THE WHOLE WAY to the MRI clinic (3-4 minutes away) and then stood with us to check me in! I can’t say enough good things about UIHC... I had a total knee replacement , didn’t really know what to expect , and have never felt more at ease with the surgeon and all the staff !!! What an amazing group that took care of me ... the mychart , the fast responses that I have had to what I felt like is this a stupid question ? They have never made me feel like anything was a stupid question !!! You guys rock !!! Thanks again for everything !!!!
There chemo and radiation team
I don’t know about the rest of the hospital but I definitely don’t recommend the ER to anyone, over 12 hours to get checked in people are crying from pain and wait, and nobody seems to care ( unprofessional people at the window) very depressing, left the hospital in more pain than I came in with.
