Union Oyster House near Faneuil Hall was established in 1826 and is the oldest continually operating restaurant in the United States. Usually crowded, the restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists. The late President John F. Kennedy's favorite booth is identified by a plaque, and Daniel Webster was a fan of the oysters. While the menu includes chicken, steak and pork, seafood is its forte. The raw bar serves a variety of shellfish. Try the lobster, which is served boiled or broiled. It was a great experience. Service was friendly, fast and fun. Our waitress had a sense of humor and wit that added to the meal. We were recommended to go here by our tour guide Jonathan from #freedomtrailtour. Being the oldest restaurant in America appealed to us. We sat next to Kennedy's favorite booth. The food was "wicked" good as you Beantowners say. Mussels, which I'm not a fan of typically, were delicious. They weren't gritty and the sauce was tasty. This was our third time to Boston and been there every time. Food and service was great. Enjoy it every time.
Had the Fried Clam Plate which was as described "cooked to perfection". The booth could have allowed for a little more elbow room but was definitely worth the inconvenience.
We came in last night, 3/17, on Saint Patrick's Day. We walked in, and put our names down for Bailey party of 3 at about 7pm or so. Had a GREAT lunch today! Our waitress, Liz, was great and everyone else was really friendly as well. The calamari was very tender, and the oysters and haddock were super fresh. Even brought some chowda home. Loved it!
The food and service was nothing short of exceptional. We will be coming back!
I was at the oyster bar. The service was exceptional. Friendly and knowledgeable and don't get me started on the oysters. Wow they were amazing
In town on business. Spotted the Union Oyster House and was on my way. Sat at the bar and watched the fresh oysters being shucked. They were delicious. I also tried the amazing "Chowdah"! I will be back.
It is a must do, the food is excellent, well priced and the service is always great! The Oyster House is historical, a must do to anyone who visits Boston and to many who live there .
