This review is based on what I observed during several hours while in the ER with my mother. I chatted with several other family members during those many hours. Patients are too often neglected and misdiagnosed at this hospital. An ER doctor told a man who had fallen and scraped his face that he had skin cancer without performing a single test. An elderly woman was left crawling on the floor after falling while her sitter and nurse ignored her and was left sitting in her feces for half an hour after a bout of diarrhea. The ... read more

In Shands north building over a week for lung infection. Had only resident or hospitalist care - not experienced pulmonologist. One nurse provided excellent care but the rest of nurses and/or assistants provided minimal attention. Consequences included bedding not changed for three days. This compounded by fact that there was no hot water in bath so could not clean myself adequately. Developed severe back rash which kept me from sleeping. Wait time is horrible. Have been waiting for 5 hours and am told it’ll be at least 8 more hours to be seen by a doctor. Unacceptable!
