Tucker's Place, which started off as a pizzeria but quickly transformed itself into a restaurant known for juicy hamburgers and inexpensive steaks, is one of the highlights of the Soulard restaurant scene. Located in a funky old building with a dark interior and a cozy bar, it serves well-prepared food to a lively, casual crowd. On the menu, you will find items such as deep-fried vegetable appetizers, chicken and Cajun club sandwiches, shrimp, ravioli and of course, steaks and chops.

Great steaks in a bar atmosphere Tuckers is a great bar atmosphere where you can also get some of the best steaks in St. Louis. They are about average on price for a steak. The appetizers are delicious, particularly the shrimp poppers, which normally are not on the menu but they will make if you ask. This is one of my favorite places to eat , not only because of the great food and drinks, but also the service.
Tucker (Soulard) – My husband and I have eaten at Tuckers several times. The steaks are delicious, and cooked the way we request them. The servers do not do a disappearing act once they bring you your food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The Best Steaks at any price – My family dined at Tuckers Place West. What a nice comfortable place! I ordered the 16oz strip ($18.85) while my wife got the 8oz filet ($17.85). These prices included a huge baked potato (REAL BUTTER & SOUR CREAM) and a ok dinner salad. The steaks were cooked perfectly and ate as good or better than any highdollar prime steakhouse that I have dined in. My kids had great thin crust pizza that was far better than all the chain pizzas. Service was pleasent and prompt, but not overboard. I HIGHLY ... read more
Worst Service. Ever. – This restaurant is a disaster. And the wait staff is terrible. A rude hostess insisted that we sit at this tiny table located in a high-traffic area between the two main upstairs dining rooms, even though they were empty. Then, we ordered a bottle of wine. It was uncorked & poured before inspection. In fact, it wasnt even the wine we asked for. Prompting the waitress to shrugs and say, "It's still red, isn't it?" We receive our salads from a busboy who notices we weren't being served. 25 minutes later,... read more
awesome – Tucker's has the best, biggest steak for the price in town. Can not be beat!!! Extremely busy, but well worth the wait!!! The best steak that I have had in years!!! I ate at the Union Rd location, and I really hated it!! I went on a date and she recommended the Soulard site, it was fantastic!!!!! I will go back again and again!!!
A no-frills spot lures grateful carnivores with pleasing burgers and sturdy steaks at reasonable prices. – In Short Like its South County and West County siblings, this original Tucker's boasts a dark, comforting interior with a typically pleasant steakhouse feel conducive to enjoying a bottle of red wine as you wait for your pork loin or porterhouse to arrive. The traditional menu sticks to moderately priced, satisfying basics: filets, strips, pizzas, seafood (cod, salmon, breaded shrimp), burgers, salads and sandwiches.
AMAZING – We went for steaks, and walked away happy!!! The wait was worth it!
A little better than OK – They handle the crowds well. But why there are crowds I'm not sure. My experience was similar to adjusting the horizontal adjustment on my TV. No matter how I tried it, I just couldn't seem to make it right. Service was average, atmosphere was stale and smoky, drinks weak, ambiance pleasant, steak prepared exactly as they intended, but not like a steak. Drowned in Teriyake like marinade is not my idea of how to prepare a steak. Send your chefs to a place like St. Elmo's in Indianapolis where flavor ... read more
