worth driving to – I'm a sushi lover, and I make a point of checking out the sushi places around SF. Tsunami is up there, with the hamano's and ebisu's and kabuto's. Let's hope it sustains this in the long run. I was a little afraid first, as the chefs were gaijins. But they do know their stuff, and they have this cool laid back attitude. And they love what they do. The specials are interesting (but misnamed: a tsunami nachos did not appeal to me until I saw it on a plate, and there was fish and no chips involved) and quite ... read more

My new sushi hangout xellent place – The food is A class. Their prices are reasonable in comparison to other same standrad sushi joints like this one. What they got for them is an awsome design, it is a drinking bar yet a sushi resturant. The cafe next door is beutifull, never been there before, I waited there till I got my table. The staff were all natural, they were not trying too hard and all came across very well. I chated with the host who sat me down in the cafe' and I loved what he told me they were trying to do..it w... read more

A great bar – I went there this Friday. It was busy and things were under control. I was surprised to see the review before about the bad service as it was one of their best strengths next to the warm hospitality I got with my friend from the owner "we think" who sat us down. Our waitress was on the ball, the food was exellent. We bought a small sake' bottel which was our bartender's recommendation and that was a good choice. thumbs up to them

bad service – You need to improve the level of service. Train your employees and hire some more. Receptionist escorted guests that came in later than me and my friend. The bartender took care of those who came in the latest first because they seated the closest to him. The guests who sat next to us before we were seated did not even receive the menu until I could finish placing the order after 15minutes when we were seated. I asked water and coke for drink which did not come. I asked drink again, he only remember water, and ... read more

Won't knock you off your feet! – Had dinner at Tsunami the other night, started off with some sake cocktails which were refreshing. Moved on to a flash-fried mini crab appetizer which was a little too crunchy for my taste. Then we dug into a scorpion roll, shrimp tempura roll and california roll. We all thought the food was pretty but not very tasty. Decor is very nice, funky and dimly lit with good music. Service is personable and friendly. Maybe a decent date spot because of it's reasonable prices but don't go for the food... read more

Fresh Sushi – The service here is excellent. Our waitress/hostess immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. The sushi was extremely fresh and well-prepared. I was less impressed with the appetizers (tuna poke was quite bland). Also, edamame seemd slightly undercooked. But no matter - the sushi is the main event here, and doesn't disappoint.

$.02 – Cool place. Not a very lively scene but i'd agree that it's a good place to start a night. Great selection of sake.

My new favorite place – this place is a great place to start off the night. The same guys who own the Monkey club and Cafe Abir my favorite coffee shop in the city opened this joint. I like the Sake and the different drinks they make with it. Also the place is more like a bar than a sit down sushi joint which is very cool.
