Good Food, Maitre'D/Greeter Could Improve – I've been going to this place for years. I love the atmosphere, the drinks and the food but one recurring problem keeps me from going there more often. I always make reservations and have begun requesting specfic tables although you'll be told that they don't take reservations for specifc tables. But, invariably, we will be taken to whatever is the worst open table in the restaurant. They seem to try to "save" the best tables though I can't imagine why they would slight their custo... read more

Not the service I like. – Me and my wife went to Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen for dinner. We had reservations. Two couples that came in after us were seated before us even though our reservations were the same time theirs was. They came in considerably after us and given that I was standing right in front of the hostess I considered it unforgivable. They actually went to the bar and grabbed one of the couples from the crowded bar before they sat us down. If not worse the Manager had a get over it attitude. Would not rec... read more

You get what you pay for..... – We were in Houston looking for a memorable dining spot. Not too fancy for jeans, but with great food. This was it. The food was wonderful, the drinks had a kick and the service was great. Its not cheap, but in life, you get what you pay for. A really memorable place.

Good enough for the President – Mandolas has always been a favorite with consistently good seafood and a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. On our last visit President Bush, Sr. and Mrs. Bush sat at the table next to us. Can't get much of a better recommendation than that! Don't miss the fresh oysters when in season...the best in town and reasonable priced.

Gulf Coast Magic – This by far is my favorite restaurant in Houston. Tony has taken our traditional Louisiana seafood favorites and made them even better by adding an Italian flare. The spicy Cajun Martin is a must and regardless of whether you chose one of the excellent daily dinner specials or order from the menu, you should start things off with their 5 Star Calamari ala Mama appetizer. The ambiance is sophisticated New Orleans and the wait staff is fantastic. If you are looking to impress your date, this is definitely th... read more

Dined at Tony Mandola's on Fat Tuesday. The restaurant was very festive with customers and staff dressed up! Everyone in our party had a super time. The oysters were wonderful. Will be back soon.

Tony Mandolas Experience, W. Gray – The Oyster Roqurfort was outstanding, the Sicilian Salad was O.K. nothing special, the Drunken Shrimp left much to be desired. The Shrimp were severely over-cooked and the sauce had no flavor or texture ($ 21.95 for a dish I took two bites of!). The service was great, I only wish the waitress would have inquired more about the Shrimp. It was a comfortable atmosphere and not stuffy. I would return, I would just finish my meal with the Oyster Roquefort.

I have enjoyed Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen for many years, but with their enlarged space a few years ago, it seems to me that the ambience, food, and service have even improved. I think it is perhaps the best all-around seafood restaurant in Houston.
