Tom Reid, former Minnesota North Star legend and longtime hockey announcer, saw an opportunity to cater to the area's hockey fans and grabbed it. Located in the shadow of St. Paul's RiverCentre, home to the Minnesota Wild, Tom's place rekindles fond memories of the long-gone Minnesota North Stars. Instead of opening an upscale joint overflowing with attitude and serving umbrella drinks, Reid decided to create a friendly tavern where the local working stiffs could grab a drink before or after the game. Hockey memorabilia is p... read more

This modest bar near the Xcel Energy Center offers decent fare and a chance to talk puck. – In Short Two blocks from Xcel Energy Center, this former workingman's bar now welcomes Dockers-clad crowds on Minnesota Wild game nights. Ample photos of the namesake's '70s sideburned self and teammates are part of the sports memorabilia displayed on the exposed brick walls. A limited menu of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and basic entrees are available for pregame eats. Beer is the preferred beverage, but wine and other spirits ar... read more
User review by thumper9092 – As a new resident to St Paul, I found Tom Reids on a Tues night with 2 for 1 specials. I and my friends have gone to Reids every Tues for nearly a year now- I love this place. On event nights it does get crowded- but what place doesn't. With the addition of 2 for 1 on Friday nights too now (unless its an event night) I have no reason to go too far for fun and great value. Thanks Tom Reid and the entire staff - you're great!
the low down – everyone who works in the hospitality business knows that if one has a fetish for sport stars this is the place to go. But if all the hockey ho's/groupies are bothersome and ruin the atmoshpere you shouldn't bother. Service is good. Good place to people watch but not to meet people.
Crowded, bad food. – I visit Reid's usually only before and after Wild games. If you're lucky enough to get a table, then your pain decreases a bit. If not, be prepared to have zero space to even stand and take a sip of beer. Plus the food is flat-out bad. Go here to drink, not eat. I had Teryaki wings and they were absolutely horrible--basically regular chicken wings drowned in an entire bottle of sauce. Nasty. Stick with bottled beer because the taps come in plastic cups and are usually on the warm side. All drinks and foo... read more
bring your wallet – If Tom Reid's is your watering hole for an evening you best bring lots of cash. I recently went to Reids for Happy Hour last Friday. Unfortunately we picked a night with an Xcel event. After paying $10.00 to park in Reid's 10 stall parking lot, I forked out $20.00 for the fist round. (party of 3) $5.75/beer + tips. Now I'm 30 bucks down before I even take a sip of beer and I look at my cheap plastic glass and I was further shocked to see a dreaded green and gold GB PACKER logo. Tommy Reid needs to take a ... read more
Double Price Beer Specials!! – Tom Reid must have had the inside track on whether or not Norm C. was going to land an NHL franchise. Otherwise he would never have sunk money into this location to push $4.75 dom. tap beers and a 6 item menu that was stolen from Burger King. Apparently Minnesota Wild + Tom Reid's great name = WAY OVERPRICED EVERYTHING and an oblivious Minnesotan's retreat. Oh!! I apologize maybe the eight 25" TV's make that cold beer worth a $5 bill..... then again, MAYBE NOT!! I can secure this quality of vie... read more
