I found them online and spent quite a bit of time browsing their site - which was pretty good - and then called them. They explained to me that a reverse mortgage really wouldn't benefit my mom -- I was impressed at their honesty.

I first walked in to the business and was greeted by ...well NO ONE! I looked on the front desk and other customers private credit reports were laying on the front desk, I could read the name and credit scores and social security number of this person. I first talked with Kim who was the owner, and she qualified me for a loan. She had other peoples personal information laying on her desk. DOES THIS BUSINESS HAVE ANY CONCERN FOR PEOPLES PRIVACY?? They took forever to even get my loan through and I cancelled my application. Kim Mennen didn't even call me to see why. I have heard from several realtors that Tippecanoe Mortgage, Inc. does very shady business, and can't keep employees because no one wants to work there due to the hostile environment Kim Mennen creates. I am glad I chose not to do business with this company!!!!! DO NOT USE TIPPECANOE MORTGAGE unless you want your personal information on display for the public to see!!!!

I am a Realtor that just closed a deal with Tippecanoe Mortgage. Preapproval letter was August 9th 2012, offer was written August 16th 2012. The file didn't get approved and sent to USDA until November. It closed December 28th 2012. The loan officer Don Frazier repeatedly misled me about the loan status, despite us having a signed privacy release from his borrower. Communication was terrible, worst I've ever experienced. There was absolutely no sense of urgency on the loan officer's part, we even had to get his boss the VP Kim involved. Because of this the seller's kids could not start in their new school until half way through the school year. It should not take 4.5 months to do a loan. I will advise my future sellers to never accept an offer from a buyer preapproved with Tippecanoe Mortgage.

Don't waste your time going through Tippecanoe Mortgage if you really need help. We tried to refinance but evidently they didn't want to deal with us since we are having financial difficulties. I don't know this for a fact though since repeated calls were never returned. After asking AGAIN if I wanted to leave a voicemail with Ms. Hill, I just said "No, she's not returning my calls anyway - I think I'll just find another comapny to go through." The response to that was a short, "ok" before he hung up. Nice, huh? Not very good customer service.
