Stay away from this place. I booked an appointment for a family member and they canceled 15 minutes before the appointment claiming they had some kind of emergency. I called and left a voicemail about that to which was not responded to or returned. My family member rescheduled their appointment and it was supposed to take place today. If you or someone you love is struggling with trauma, anxiety, or feeling like life is impossible to get through, I cannot recommend The Wise Center for DBT in Birmingham, AL enough. For years, I struggled to find self-worth and to process a series of traumas that had damaged my relationships and left me with persistent sadness and anxiety. I had begun to wonder if things could ever really change. Finding The Wise Center changed everything. Working with Melissa DeLong and the broader team — including the clinical leadership ... read more

The Wise Center for DBT is an incredible asset to Birmingham. It’s clear they’ve built a practice with a high level of expertise, structure, and consistency in the work they do. Access to DBT in a setting like this is incredibly valuable, and it raises the standard of mental health support available in the community. That same care carries through to the environment they’ve created. There’s a warmth and steadiness you can feel, along with a real respect for the importance of the work. It feels like a soft place to land—a pla... read more

Dr. Harrison, the clinic director, is the only board-certified DBT therapist in the state, which says a lot about the level of expertise here. She can do a really comprehensive initial evaluation, and the doctoral psychology team can also run full assessments for things like Autism Spectrum Disorder or Atten... read more
