1st time in Old Salem, and being the tourist, had no idea of the Tavern until wife and I stumbled upon it. Enjoyed the day here, but without question the highlight of our July 4th daytime excursion was our lunch @ The Tavern. The ambiance was outstanding, friendly staff, and the southern based food on the menu was delicious and fresh! Would pay double for this elsewhere and wouldn't be half as good. Would definitely come again!! A surprise and wonderful find.
We randomly found this place on Yelp while looking for nearby things to eat at. The atmosphere, service, food were all on point and at a surprisingly affordable cost. The quality of food we got I would normally expect to be in the $18-$25 a plate range for the main dish alone but lunch for 3 people with Ice teas and desserts was only about $55 total before tip. We had a wonderful lunch served by a very personable waiter who gave us great recommendations on local brews. We ended by going with his recommendation to have the Strawberry Syllabub for dessert, and it was SO worth it! We had a great time!

By far my favorite place to eat. Every time I go here I get something different and I am never disappointed. My favorite it the spatzle and the duck bacon.
