This popular restaurant looks like something straight out of a western movie. The barn-like exterior and wooden floors add the perfect touch of rusticity. A live band plays out back on Friday and Saturdays. Put on your boots and get ready for some two-stepping. Bring your appetite and sample all the Texas barbecue you can handle. The brisket, chicken and ribs are superb but save a little room for some blackberry or peach cobbler. It just might be the best this side of the Mississippi River.

Not just saying this because I work here! Our food is great and our staff is awesome too
like the swinging door but why doesn't it ever make Texas Monthlys top 50 list for great BBQ? With all the backwoods old west charm the Swinging door should be on the list. I love the heel end of their briquette but find the lean end a little rubbery and I'm not sure what causes this my thought is cooking too high a heat for too short a time. Went to The Swinging Door for the first time tonight. Our waitress Kim was amazing! Very patient and accommodating. She went over the menu with us after realizing it was our first time, gave recommendations and was extremely friendly. The food was some of the best barbecue we've had yet and nice big portions. We ended up with the Super (3 meat and 3 vegetables), Combo (2 meat and 2 vegetables) and a loaded baked potato and it was more than enough food for two adults and two boys. Worst service - and for an easy phone in order. They didn't mess it up once, they messed it up twice!!
Never get enough of this fine Texas cuisine. My favorite ribs anywhere.
