"Ill" Palio – In a less pretentious, mre reasonably priced environment, the meal I had would have been well below average -- at those prices the meal should have been excellent -- it wasn't. Overcooked scallops, gummy pasta, tasteless risotto, and a very subpar desert. Add to that a wine list that is inflated by about 15% and a truly annoying "wandering" guitarist I'll never be back -- Anyone that thinks this is the best resturant in the Triangle obviously have never been to Magnolia Grill, or Four Square or Second Empire or... read more

Lives up to ratings – I can't believe the negative ratings on this place. These people must have really hit it on a bad night, or totally mis-ordered. We had excellent, friendly service. The place is a little heavy on the decor, but not so much that it's stuffy. The scallops appetizer was killer, and the rack of lamb was also outstanding. The only mistake was the uncooked apple tart dessert, which was removed from the bill.

Double Score – Il Palio deserves a 20, 10 for service, 10 for food! On both trips there, my wife, my friends, and I were treated to the ultimate in dining pleasure. The finest ingredients, perfectly blended to thrill the palate, and served so competently that you never were really aware of the service, but you never lacked for attention. The portions are more than generous, and my wife left a sizeable amount of her entree. The chef came to our table to make sure the food was up to her expectations! That is professional court... read more

Don't Go – I will never go back. I went for my wife's birthday, and we had very poor service, and the food was cold and undercooked. The waitress never told us what the specials were. It was a miserable experience for the $200 bill! I wrote a letter to the manager, and explained our discontent. I didn't want anything in return, but just wanted to let them know of the problem. I also asked them to call me concerning the problem. Never once did they try to contact me. If I had the reputation that they had, I would have followe... read more

Melts in your mouth – I would HIGHLY recommend the gorgonzola walnut ravioli; it has got to be one of the best, if not THE best dish that I have ever had! I did go once, however, and made the mistake of not ordering it...I was disappointed. I am alarmed that I did not see it on their web site menu...it would be a HUGE mistake if they took it off.

Give your money to charity! – This has got to be the most over rated eatry ever. When you walk in the decor is striking. Then it's down hill from there. Go to Hardee's if you want a $6.00 burger for $3.95. Come here if you want a dinner for $45.00 worth $7.95.

Huh? – The food is greatly over-rated fpr the price. I can think of several country cafes in Tuscany that were superior to Il Palio and cost less than $50 for two people with wine. In the southeast, try Il Cortile Del Re in Charleston, SC for great Italian food.

And the Winner Is.... – I've eated at Il Palio and I think that this restaurant belongs in Heaven. I get so tired of reading these reviews, please see for yourself...If your looking for a romantic, upper class excuse to leave reality and live a life of Luxury, take your Wife, Girlfriend or date here. Simply the best, the fact that they won so many awards says it best.

Yum Yum – I totally believe in using rating systems. I use it all the time and you can be sure if I have a good time or a bad time, I will let it be known. This establishment is outstanding! Being single and searching for the mate for life, this is one place that I do not mind going to alone or in pursuit. Can be pricey but worth the wait and the taste!
