The Siena Hotel is the best! – Great Hotel! The Service is amazing; the rooms are very spacious, and well appointed. We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday this past weekend, she mentioned, this made up for all the birthdays I had not come through. So I am finally out of the dog house. We started the weekend with an in room massage and then had a private dinner service in our room with our own waiter for the evening with an in-room table side prepared dessert, WOW! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
Bar none, Il Palio has the best martinis in the Triangle. Every Thursday night is Martini night, all martinis are $6, an outstanding bargain when you consider the portion size and the craftsmanship with which it is prepared. So much better than spending twice as much for a thimbleful of liquor at other places. The selection of over 30 variations is impressive, running the gamut from a dirty vodka with gorgonzola stuffed olives to the sweeter Tuscan Sunrise. Delicious complimentary hors d'oeuvres seal the deal. The staff are ... read more
With antique-filled guest rooms and an Italian restaurant, this is where the world-weary rediscover romance. – In Short Modeled after a Tuscan villa, the Siena is filled with marble, antiques, commissioned carved-wood furniture and beautifully designed fabrics. Each of the guest rooms are decorated with hand-selected antiques. Visitors enjoy valet parking, complimentary shoe shine, turndown service, chocolates on the pillow and a full breakfast at the award-winning Il Palio Ristorante.
Great brunch – We enjoyed our first visit to Il Palio for Sunday brunch. The hotel is small and European in feel, with fountains and statuary. Inside, it's elegant and the brunch is set in a corner of the lobby. The website's menu is almost exactly what was offered: numerous creative salads, carved meats, vegetables, antipasto cheeses and meats, and delightful little desserts such as tiramisu, raspberry pastries, and little individual chocolate cheesecakes. High points: carved tenderloin, roasted red potatoes, tomato salad, ... read more
Very enjoyable night – I have to agree with several people that the negative reviews are most likely the result of an off night. The waiter was very friendly and attentive (but not too attentive). The ambience was classy and, for the most part, quiet. The bar piano was sometimes a bit louder than necessary, but not overbearing. The food was excellent. As far as the serving size, I had the scallops and was served 5 large scallops (a good serving). My date had the seabass and received 2 nice-sized strips. Along with an appetiz... read more
I was truly in Italy :) – I have had the pleasure of staying at the Siena Hotel numerous times for both business and pleasure. The service is always gracious, attentive and consistant. There is nothing nicer than entering a hotel that remembers your name and knows your prferences. Dining in the Il Palio restaurant is always an experience, the creative italian fare is fantastic, and food is one of my passions. Close to UNC, Duke and RTP, I am always minutes away from my clients. This hotel makes you feel as though you are in ... read more
A comment for the last comment – I want to clarify a few things mentioned: The lobby is "small" and intimate. The Siena is a European Boutique Hotel which exactly describes what it is! The furnishings are unique. The fabrics are typical of classic Italian decor. The larger rooms are called "STUDIO SUITES" which means one large room with a sitting area. No, there's no pool or gym onsite, but guests have access to one down the road. The restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening or business lunch. The lobby and restaurant ar... read more
I'll join the fray...... – There seems to be a big difference of opinion here. I have been to Il Palio several times over the past 4 years. This restaurant is absolutely top-notch in every area. Order the tasting menu and let it come! You will be treated to exquisite dishes paired with lovely wines. The sommelier will answer any question, and will even tell you where to obtain the wines you have locally. It lives in my "big 3" restaurants. Others: Xaviars in Piermont, NY and Toque in Montreal.
Disappointing – My husband and I recently stayed at the Siena and, after reading the reviews, were disappointed. Yes - the lobby floors are marble but so are the floors of many hotels. The lobby is rather small and the furniture is interesting but a concoction of mismatched fabrics. It was pleasant but far from spectacular. The suite that we stayed in was not, in fact, a suite - it was one large room with a small couch and 2 chairs. The furniture fabric was rather dowdy and the room, although big, was a bit dark. The ceiling... read more
