The Pit

About this business

The Pit offers some of the best barbecue in Raleigh. Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

Great food. Good service. Ordered family style with 4 adults and we have lots of left overs. Highly recommend it. We all enjoyed.

We really liked it the first few times but the last time we went we had horrible service, I was a waitress and I know the difference between being busy and just being bad. They took our order never came back for the drink order gave us a wrong side then they were told they gave us the wrong side then never brought it out. They took food away while we were packing it up and threw it away. They were not very friendly at all. Idk if they were just all in bad moods but it was my Mother's Day dinner and it pretty much ruined the ... read more

Great place! Excellent fried chicken, mashed potatoes were to die for, crunchy garlic green beans, cold NC craft beer. We enjoyed it. Service was very good. A lively place.

I have eaten BBQ all over the US and the brisket was soggy slimey and had no smoke ring pretty sure it wasn't done enough and as a party of 4 we all through food away and with no reservation the southern inhospitable truly came out pushing a disabled man aside to take a table and not having a remorseful thought needless to say we will never return
