A beautiful ambience with the perfect blend of urban simplicity and modern, chic elegance, The Optimist is one of the best Atlanta seafood journeys you can take. The fresh oysters, the sumptuous fried octopus with pickled mustard seeds, and the pièce de résistance halibut- they all demand your attention with their immaculate presentation, complimented with sauces that are utterly divine. It is a brave praise for a restaurant on our first visit, but this is definitely worth your time.

Bartender was fabulous- so knowledgeable on wine but things went downhill from here. Our waitress was not very knowledgeable on food or wine. Service was slow. Main entrees took an unacceptable amount of time. Waitress acknowledged this by saying thanks for being patoent but she should've said desserts on me or something. After the long wait, the halibut was overcooked but after waiting so long we weren't willing to wait longer by sending it back. Great setting, loved the music outside but food and waitress just meh.

The hushpuppies, oysters and service was wonderful. The she crab soup was too sweet, too much sherry, the only steak on the menu was salty and the only chicken on the menu was overcooked and the fried rice was hard. The selection choices were about 10. It is a overpriced restaurant.

I really enjoyed the whole time. It was my 72nd birthday and everyone treated me like I was a "Queen." From the valet to the servers. Music great, food exceptional, if never eaten oysters half shell and it's delicious, oh don't let me not brag on the lobster! Oh my gosh, everything exceptional! Did I forget Mimosas! Great! Service great! Definitely coming back!

Excellent food, great atmosphere, Love it! We had our Christmas party here, which is right across from my office. The Gumbo, raw oysters, fried oysters, and steak was delicious. I would definitely tell everybody to at least visit once, you will keep coming back for more.

Loved it! The food was excellent and our server, Adam, was very helpful. I ordered the fried Octopus for an appetizer and although it was delicious, I probably wouldn't get it again because one tentacle just doesn't seem worth the $18 price tag. On the other hand, my entree was the scallops and although there were only 4 scallops for the $27 price tag, I can honestly say that I've never tasted any better in my 55 years. So, bottom line for me, a $7 buttery scallop trumps an $18 tentacle any day!! 😎

Outdoor area is fantastic. The wait staff were attentive. We had four half dozen oysters from various locations, all of them just as good as the next. We will be back again.
