Looking for somewhere different to hang with your buds? Try The Maple Leaf Pub in Midtown. This place is overflowing with north-of-the-border character. Switch up your steady diet of domestic and Mexican beers to a frosty Canadian Molson and catch a hockey game with some friendly folks. If one of your friends gets too rowdy, you can put them in the penalty box. There is no better watering hole in the city during the Stanley Cup. The crowd, much like what can be found in Canada, is diverse and super pleasant.

Hockey-themed Midtown bar offers good drink specials, Saturday hockey night, darts, bubble hockey game and Canadian beers. – In Short Open to the street, this casual neighborhood bar provides upscale professionals and Canadian expats a place to kick back and watch the game. Dark woods, beer signs, ample seating and suds on tap add to the pub atmosphere. Board games, darts and bubble hockey entertain patrons, as do the five big-screen plasma TVs tuned to the latest hockey games. The Maple Leaf also broadcasts NFL Sunday Ticke... read more
All around GREAT pub – First and foremost, I have always received the best service from the bartenders at the Maple Leaf, particularly Curtis. He has only served me twice and I still remember his name. They are all attentive, prompt, friendly, and all around just memorable bartenders. The juke box RULES. It is a roomy bar with interesting, friendly patrons. Dart boards didn't hurt, either. However, I want my emphasis to remain on the service. I feel like it's the most determining factor no matter where you are. Let's put it ... read more
Business response:
Our main focus is always about customer service. We never want to be grouped together with some of the other midtown bars that might have a reputation of being not so friendly. If you ever feel we are slipping in this aspect, please let us know so that we can correct the problem. Once again, Thank You.
Great Place – I went to the Maple Leaf last night for my boyfriend birthday with a group of friends. Needless to say we all had an excellent time. It has a great relax feel not to loud you were able to have conversations with everyone. Props to the bartender he was great and we will all be back for Hockey season.
Business response:
Sorry it took so long to respond, as my computer was down for quite some time. Thanks for your kind words. Hockey season is now in full swing. Come on in and root for your favourite team.
Best pub in Houston – My boyfriend and I discovered this place in March of 2007. It's become our favorite place to hang out and enjoy a pint (or two, or three!). Sean (the owner) and his wife couldn't be nicer, and we've certainly become regulars. It's also one of the only places in town with Woodchuck Amber on tap, and that certainly doesn't hurt.
Business response:
Thank you very much for your kind words. The Woodchuck is definitely mandated by Olivia and I don't see that going away anytime soon. The internet jukebox is probably one of the most highly contested issues in the place. The debate rages on, and who knows, maybe one day we will put one in. In the meantime, tell your bartender (or me) what you would like to see in the jukebox and I'll do my best to get it in there. Thanks
TERRIFIC PLACE TO HANG OUT – Maple Leaf is one of my favorite places to hang out. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. The TV's are perfectly perched above the bar so that you don't have to crane your neck. The jukebox is awesome with a wide variety of music that is not too loud. The people that frequent this pub are not snobby but are polished and professional looking. Yes, there is not a kitchen on the premises but hey, eat before you go out. If you are really hungry the bartenders have a bunch of menus they will give ... read more

Thank you very much for your kind words. See you in the pub soon.
Bringing Hockey, Hard Hits, and a Hell of a Good Time to Houston – Being a Buffalo/Niagara Falls native, it's hard to find a place down here to catch a Sabres game. This is the first and only bar I've found in Houston to meet the needs or a big hockey fan. Notice I said "bar" and not "night club" because thats exactly what it is. Its a place where friends can get together and relax and get a little rowdy from time to time. Great TV's, great music, and the best beer selection in Houston (the only place I've found in Texas to ... read more
Business response:
You are far too kind. I am extremely pleased to know that you like the place and are having a great time watching hockey here in Houston. If only the previous person who reviewed the place took the time to get to know us like you have. Once again, thank you.
Only if there's nowhere else to go. – My wife and I being from Kingston Ontario had heard about the pub and were looking for a good opportunity to check the place out, and what a better opportunity than to watch the Sens play the Devils. We were hoping for and expecting an electric atmosphere full of, if not Ottawa fans, then at least hockey fans. Upon entering the establishment, other than a table of three and the bar tender, the place was empty. As for being able to accommodating sport fans, 3 poorly placed and small plasm... read more
Business response:
Unfortunately for all involved, you folks were probably the first Sens' fans in all year. Neither the Sens or the Devils have a draw here in Houston. I don't think the Canadian fans here in Houston believe that the Senators can get it done (with good reason) and that is probably the reason they have not come out of the woodwork to watch them. As far as not having an electric atmosphere, please read the next review. Since you say that we only have 3 small plasma TV's, it tells me that you did not take the time to get to know ... read more
Great bar ... – The last person with the stupid review. You have realize that you do not live in a Hockey town ... SO with that being said sometimes when big sporting events are going on you may not get to watch Hockey. In order for a bar to survive in Houston they have to sometimes show the BIGGER games. Your comment about the waitress ... YOU ARE A SERIOUS LOSER! That is ALL I will say about that one ... trust me you will figure it out one day! This bar rocks, the TVs are great (especially now that there is sound), selecti... read more

Thank you very much for your kind words. Hope to see you in soon. Let me know who you are so that I can buy you a beer.
Not really a hockey bar. – When I first found out about this place, I was pretty excited to have at last found and honest-to-goodness hockey bar in a city that really doesn't seem to know what ice is. So, on a Friday night I headed down there to watch some NCAA tournament hockey and my Colorado Avalanche, who were in a desperate race to make the playoffs. Upon entering the jukebox was blaring Alice in Chains, score one for the bar. I sat down at the bar and saw that 2 of the 5 TVs were showing basketball. 2 goals against the... read more
Business response:
I am sorry that we couldn't get absolutely everything right for you. First and foremost we try to be a relaxed, casual, and friendly neighborhood pub. I am sorry that the staff was "snippy" towards you. That is not the impression we want to give. If you will look at all the past reviews, you will find that your case was an unusual one. As you might know, when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one. If we had a group of 20 people in wanting to watch basketball, it might be hard for the bartender to say no. I a... read more
