Looking for somewhere different to hang with your buds? Try The Maple Leaf Pub in Midtown. This place is overflowing with north-of-the-border character. Switch up your steady diet of domestic and Mexican beers to a frosty Canadian Molson and catch a hockey game with some friendly folks. If one of your friends gets too rowdy, you can put them in the penalty box. There is no better watering hole in the city during the Stanley Cup. The crowd, much like what can be found in Canada, is diverse and super pleasant.

I really love this place, they have so many great people in this place, and they have great food in here to during the night. I think this place is just jamming.
Great Place to Watch Hockey and Play Board Games – I've been here a couple times with some Canadian friends, and each time has been great. There's a great atmosphere here, and not the people aren't pretentious like other places in Houston. They have a wide variety of board games, Canadian beer, and HOCKEY! If you're a hockey fan, and you live in Houston, you're doing yourself a disservice by not frequenting this place. Even if you don't like Hockey, The Maple Leaf Pub is a great place for after hours to hang out with friends... read more
Hockey, Girls and games everywhere... – Best little ol' pub in Texas. Lot's to do and very nice folks too. And the staff and owners are spectacular.. Pub Heaven for me!!
You gotta love the Maple Leaf – I was glad to see the Maple Leaf toping the list of bars in Houston. I can't agree more! This is the best place to go out with a group of friends and talk to others at the bar. Great staff....hodge podge of people there that usually aren't pretending to be too cool. And for some reason I always walk out sauced and a nice hangover in the morning = good time in my book! Not for people who want to go to a packed bar hearing house music all night.
Convenient spot, good drafts – I have some friends that live in the Calais directly across the street from "The Leaf" as they call it. Would rate 4.5...For a Friday night I noticed the following...individual tables with 4-5 people playing board games, chatting it up, generaly having a good time. Others seemed to be regulars at the bar, we opted to throw some darts. Stells Artois was served in corresponding glass (nice touch) and promptly, I might add by their only male server at the time. Was checked on throughout the night ... read more
Business response:
Thanks for the great review. Just ask the bartender to look away as you walk out the door with the Stella glass. I'm pretty sure they won't see a thing.
Best Midtown Pub – Great Neighborhood Pub. The bartenders obviously know their stuff. Late night pizza offering is the best. I have never had problems fitting or getting on the patio myself, but hey - maybe they can go roof-top. My fav bartender Jenna is the best. We love her !! Just an all around leave your attitude at the door and hang out bar - that's what I'm talking about.
Business response:
Roof-top would be great. Do you think we could sneak a patio up there without the landlord noticing. Who knows, maybe in the future. Don't go giving Jenna a big head now. Your right though, she is pretty good. Thanks again and see you soon.
Favorite Bar in Houston – This is easily my favorite bar in Houston. It's very non-assuming and completely comfortable. You fit in if you're wearing a suit and tie or if you chilling in shorts. The bartender always remembers my drink order even if it's been a while since my previous visit. The mixed drinks are stout and are moderately priced considering the bar is located in midtown.
Business response:
Thank you for your kind words. It's true that the patio is a bit narrow. We had to work with the space we had. If the darn city would just allow us to expand over the sidewalk and beyond we would be just fine. Oh well, I guess it's better than no patio. Once again, thanks.
Great Hockey, Great Service, Great Place – I was really disheartened to read a few of the reviews. I am not related to the owner, but I have visited the Maple Leaf Pub many times during the hockey season. I was so ecstatic last year to find out that there is an actual hockey bar in Houston. I made a couple of new friends there and even ran into some old friends. The staff is always friendly and the service is wonderful! The owner is a really great guy too! I would venture to guess that this bitter Lance guy probably doesn't ... read more

I am so glad you mentioned the friends part. We are so proud of the friendships that have been made at The Leaf. We appreciate your support.
Good hockey bar eh? – Well, hockey games only have 3 stars, so that will have to do for now. Besides, just made my first visit prior to the Aeros game 1/23. Alas it was the all star break and the lame Rockets were throwing another one away. The Labatt Blues were nice and cold, and $3.50 is a bargain compared to the $7-8 at the Toyota Center. Selection of other brews was impressive, I'll have some of my other faves from home next time. Being alone, I sat at the bar and can see the point about the limited view if not all scree... read more

We hope to see you in for more games. The second half of the season is always more exciting than the first half. Bring in your friend, or chat with a stranger and make a new friend. As always, feel free to ask the bartender to put on your favorite team. We are always happy to play as many games as our 6 TVs can handle. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
