Founded by David Dettloff in October 1995, The Ink Lab features experienced, award winning tattoo artists and body piercers from around the world. Located in the heart of the Uptown neighborhood. Our shop is clean, friendly and drug free, all of our artists and piercers are licensed by the state of Minnesota and regulated by the Minneapolis Department of Environmental Health.

Charlie did an incredible job with my husband's tattoo. He took time to waterline all of the line work and it made the black look incredibly sharp and crisp. We'd had other people tell is that they couldn't do the design he wanted, so having Charlie do such an incredible job was awesome.
Incredible work. Came with a colored sketch, and David Detloff delivered a flawless tattoo. Received numerous compliments on the terrific line work he performed on my arm. Was so pleased with the arm piece, came back for a larger piece spanning my other arm and half my chest. I pitched an elaborate idea to David and he delivered detail oriented work that far exceeded my expectations. Coloring was incredible, people frequently tell me it's some of the most impressive work they have seen, and I have to agree.
Over the last year I have been working with David on my right sleeve. I came to him with two concepts that I wanted him to join with a piece that he had done previously on my arm. I gave him total artistic freedom to create something for me. I could not be happier with what I have now. I have a amazing piece of art now for a right arm. David along with his entire staff are professional, courteous, and excellent at what they do. I would highly recommend The Ink Lab to anyone looking for a great tattoo experience.
It took me months to find the talent I was looking for. Besides being the most talented artist with best realism work I could find he was extremely professional and accommodating to what I wanted. I received a very detailed triple cover up eagle that healed perfectly, retained all detail and color and shocks everyone that sees it. I highly recommend David and the Ink Lab.
If it's unmatchable quality you're looking for, the Ink Lab is the place to go. I have been going to David at the Ink Lab for ten years now. Not once have I been dissatisfied, and people I have referred are always captivated with his work and become returning customers. The store is clean and has a comfortable environment.
