The Hungry Cat has been meowing its way to the hearts of the city's phat cats! This modern, urban bar and seafood eatery caters to the Hollywood people, who love fish and alcohol. With an outdoor patio, horseshoe shaped bar, seating capacity of about 75 and a cool vibe, this place is ideal to chill out with your buddies. The fare on the menu has influences from the east coast and creations by chef and owner David Lentz, including the likes of tuna sashimi melon salad and the famous 'pug burger.' Don't forget to try the delic... read more

Hungry Cat - so so – We showed up for an early dinner (5:45) and were told all the tables were reserved so we sat at the bar (we counted four tables that never were seated when we left). the oysters were great. The burger was tasty but very difficult to eat, the bun was too hard and there was way too much bleu cheese which was overpowering. Thhe salad was nice. We really enjoyed the cocktails but they took a long time, we understood that they were made to order, but when you order a drink you should get it before your food a... read more
Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect! – I REALLY like this restaurant. I have just finish having my birthday there with many friends from many countries. Everybody loved the food. The only dish that could have been better is the lobster roll. I recommend this restaurant very much. If you sit at the bar, you feel like you are in the kitchen.
I'm still hungry – Slow service. Portions are tiny, expensive and not impressive, escpecially the four-bite lobster roll for $22. Tastes like a small but heavy tuna fish on toast, but with lobster. Everyone seems to tell them that their Chocolate dessert isburnt, but they claim that it is "bruleed" and is supposed to come that way. It's charcoal. Kitchen is uneven, with dishes often taking much too long to come out. Be careful if you sit in the patio, they have a very uncomfortable concrete bench. Request a chair from inside... read more
Needs to find its "sea legs" – We were excited for this affordable alternative to AOC, but we found it to be somewhat unsteady on its feet. The restaurant is very hard to spot even when you're standing right in front of it. Service was polite and efficient but portions are small and prices are a bit steep for what you get. Chorizo and mussel dish left one of our party with a "big bowl of grease" after he'd picked out all the sausage and shellfish. Bread pudding (the only dessert) was scalding hot. But seabass was delicious a... read more
More hype than buzz – Difficult to find because it is in a mall, The Hungry Cat offers a different taste in LA. New England - style food is done fine, but not spectacularly. The lobster roll, chorizo mussels, oysters, while all interesting, nothing has a particular punchy flavor. Small portions try to align the Hungry Cat with the popular "tapas"-style restaurants. These portions are so small you can hardly share among 3 people. With these prices, and hype (and chefs), I came in with higher expectations.
Great Place – I had trouble finding the place even when I was standing right in front of it, but it was well worth it. The cocktails are absolutely wonderful, made fresh and as they should be. Had the crabcakes and shrimp. Let me tell you, it's hard to find a real and good crabcake these days, but I absolutely loved it, the garlic sauce that is on top- mmm, good stuff. It was a bit pricey for one, but it was fantastic, so I'll let it slide. The peel and eat shrimp were huge, and also wonderful. I definitley recommend this pl... read more
Definitely a place to try! – We wanted to try a new restaurant and were looking for a good seafood place. Luckily this was our destination. Everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic! I'm sure that word of mouth will make this place a success...(if it isn't already, just opened in March I believe?) The dishes were interesting, with things on the menu like Skate fish and a phenominal Oyster Chowder...yum, yum, yum. The beet salad (which is always a favorite of mine) was great, with its unusual combination of ingredients t... read more
Superb – Every bite was fantastic. If you like Lucques and AOC, you'll love The Hungry Cat. The blood butter sauce with the crab legs is out of this world., as is the crab cake. The one and only dessert (chocolate bread pudding) is unbelieveable and well worth the wait (it, along with the entire menu, is made to order). Service was superlative. The place is hard to find and I worry it may not do well because of that.
Fab Cool Seafood place with a Twist!!!love it. – We love it! All seafood menu, excellent!! Although a limited selection, but if you love seafood and have a sophisticated palate, you will love and enjoy every dish! My husband and I sat at the table but it looks really fun to sit at the bar too. We tried the squid salad, which is great. the Crab with orange butter sauce and the Fried Skat is excellent, authentic and none of those tip toes tasteless seafood restauant! the chocalate pudding is excellent too. We have been going b... read more
