About this business

The Hungry Cat has been meowing its way to the hearts of the city's phat cats! This modern, urban bar and seafood eatery caters to the Hollywood people, who love fish and alcohol. With an outdoor patio, horseshoe shaped bar, seating capacity of about 75 and a cool vibe, this place is ideal to chill out with your buddies. The fare on the menu has influences from the east coast and creations by chef and owner David Lentz, including the likes of tuna sashimi melon salad and the famous 'pug burger.' Don't forget to try the delic... read more

I Like Fish! – I've never, on multiple trips, had a dish that was less than terrific at the HC. Portions are smallish and prices are highish, but you never feel ripped off, because the quality of the seafood is always stellar. And the fresh, handmade tropical cocktails are a revelation. Also, you have to love a place that doesn't take itself too seriously: in addition to a couple of fantastic beers on tap, you can also order a Pabst Blue Ribbon in a brown bag.

The Biggest Rip Off Ever!!!!!!!!!!! – What a waste of time and money! The food was ridiculous, the service beyond helpful...it was just awful!

Nice place. Great food. – Braised clams and chorizo with garbanzo beans is awesome. Save the toast till the clams are gone; use it to sop up every last bit of that remarkable gravy. The lobster roll is pretty good but it is too small. More of an appetizer. What I can't get enough of is the, "Pug Burger." A small fresh ciabatta roll with lettuce and red onion becomes the bed for a fist size hamgburger patty dripping with arterial bane, which I recommend you order medium-rare. It is then fitted with slab of bleu cheese not lar... read more

I hated (almost) everything about this restaurant – UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: Yesterday, I got a message of apology from the manager of The Hungry Cat. I'm guessing he read this review and put two and two together. Anyway, tracking down irate customers isn't fun, and it's a good sign that they care enough to do it. Perhaps they'll fix their problems. I wish them good luck. -Service was absolutely terrible. My wife's appetizer came five minutes before mine, ditto with entrees (which were hot, so she was almost done with hers by th... read more

Great seafood! – It was a very pleasant experience dining at the Hungry Cat. The fried oysters (4 pcs.) were awesome, it's a must eat. Everything else was outstanding. Don't miss this hot spot!

Hungry No More! – Had a dinner date with my hubby here last Sat and had a great time. Recommend making reservations as it can get really packed. The place is casual hip, no-frills. The menu is very limited, so make sure you like seafood. I had the lobster roll, which I highly recommend. It tastes very creamy and the roll complements it so well (I disagree w/ the last comment saying it was too small- maybe for a man). Would've wanted dessert but all they offered was chocolate bread. Drinks were good and service, though it can... read more

Scratch this Cat off your list – There are a tremendous number of restaurants in this price range with convenient parking arrangements, friendly and professional staff that can make for an enjoyable evening out. I would suggest you spend your money somewhere else. We booked a birthday dinner at the Hungry Cat. Upon arrival, we were advised that our reservation could not be found and therefore they would not seat us. I spoke with another girl who found the first two initials of our reservation name in their book. Upon returni... read more

Lots of Rough Spots Still – While the food was quite good - the oysters, king crab legs, and blackberry margarita in particular were excellent - there's much to be sorted out here. Despite our reservation, we waited to be seated for more than a half hour in an inhospitable non-space between two buildings (the restaurant is situated in a mall/multi-use complex). The hosting staff was well intentioned - they offered us drinks while we waited - but scattered - they forgot half the order and took forever to bring the full round.... read more
