The Hungry Cat has been meowing its way to the hearts of the city's phat cats! This modern, urban bar and seafood eatery caters to the Hollywood people, who love fish and alcohol. With an outdoor patio, horseshoe shaped bar, seating capacity of about 75 and a cool vibe, this place is ideal to chill out with your buddies. The fare on the menu has influences from the east coast and creations by chef and owner David Lentz, including the likes of tuna sashimi melon salad and the famous 'pug burger.' Don't forget to try the delic... read more

Worst Service in Town – This restaurant's service is about as warm and friendly as a slab of concrete in the dead of winter. The staff and especially the hostess is impersonal, pretentious, and have the customer services skills of a burned out DMV employee. This poor service and extensive wait to be seated and recieve any food negated any pleasure my group experienced from the meal. If this place is going to have any staying power, it needs a serious lesson in customer service. I definitely don't recommend this place.
Decent Food but Bad Service – My night at Hungry Cat began with an encounter with a rude and very tan hostess. The hostess was uninviting and had the worst case of pretentious attitude east of La Cienega. After waiting 1 hour without a heat lamp, my party was seated at the bar. The drinks looked interesting but the staff was pretty inpersonal. The food was decent but after all the bad service....I can't recommend this place.
Nice meal – Oyster were good. Not great, but not bad. Actually they were good. Sorry. I just remembered some oysters I had at Charcoal...the taste is still festering in my mouth. Great drinks here at Hungry Cy - a bit pricey...but it's Hollywood, someone has to pay for all the "new" glitter on Vine/Sunset. Hollywood chic, especially Bed, Bath & Beyond & Borders. Brings me back to the old days of Garbo & Gable.
It's a restaurant, not your home – The food is great. The servers/bartenders are friendly and efficient. There is a rule that you cannot make substitutions on the menu. However, they have always taken the cheese off of the fantastic burger every time I've asked. They are not unreasonable. However, people in Los Angeles tend to forget that when they go to a restaurant they are NOT AT HOME. You are not cooking the food; it was your free will to choose a restaurant to prepare your meal instead. What they want their menu to be i... read more
ZigHail Hungry Cat! – The food was great. Outside of that, the experience was dissappointing. The liquors are all obscure brands. The menu makes no distinction between what is an appetizer or entree size meal. The hostess is rude. There are absolutely no changes or substitutions to what is on the menu. (I am not a finnicky eater and always order dishes as the chef sees fit, but to tell people that they can't "hold" something on a dish they may be allergic to is ridiculous). Overall, it felt like a Seafood dictatorship. Our w... read more
mostly good – so i ate here for the first time with a few friends. they had all eaten at the hungry cat numerous times. and loved it. i ordered some kind of bread with lobster on it and fries. our appetizer was oysters. i enjoyed my meal but for some reason everyone else said their food wasn't as good as the last time they were there. they were out of bread pudding :( so we got this other dessert. wasn't my fav. whatever. i enjoyed myself. my food was good. mybe it was an off night for my friends' food. i will definately be ... read more
So popular This seafood spot has become so popular that it's difficult to book a table there. They have excellent oysters and shrimp. It's a great place to eat after seeing something at the Arclight. they have a good brunch too.

When you don't care about customer service, this is your place – I have never before, in spite of great meals and bad, been inspired to write a restaurant review, but my experience at The Hungry Cat has driven me to put in my two cents. My sister and I, being out of towners and having some difficulties finding the restaurant on Vine, arrived starving and 8 mins late for our reservation to be told that, in spite of four or five clearly available tables on the patio, the hostess was not going to be able to seat for another fiv... read more
