The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

Good beer selection. Attentive waitstaff. Had the open faced tuna melt w/ potato slices. My husband had the salmon. Delicious!
my husband and I recently went to lunch here. He ordered the PB&J chicken wings which were huge and cooked perfectly and I ordered the Kansas city cheesesteak with fries. the cheesesteak was delicious, it had a homemade cheese sauce that wad so good I also dipped my fries into and the barbecue sauce was perfect with three steak and cheese. Went in there on Jan 10 at 5:15. We were seated in the lounge. Placed our order at 5:45 give or take. We saw the waitress again at 6:30 when she told us that our order was not there and that she was bringing us chips and salsa right away but that they were rushing our order. 21 minutes later we walked out and never got food. Very disappointing to leave at 7 still hungry.
Always great beer and good food. Everyone can find something they like. Highly recommend the dirty wings and any kind of nachos.
