About this business

The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

Food was gross. Ordered chicken cordon bleu sandwich no bread side of Cole slaw. Coleslaw was inedible and old. My friends broccoli was brown and yellowing of course old. Told our server her reply was ok. Charged 13.99 for a grilled chicken breast with cheese and 3 small slices of Canadian bacon. Don’t waste your time here.

We loved the bar area, the decor, the vibe, and the food. Children’s menu was solid and the staff was friendly towards the kids. You can definitely feel good about having kids with you. Large food portions, solid pricing, and taste was on point. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

We had the best waitress ever!! My grandson’s favorite place to celebrate his birthday. We always need a back room for 10 to 12 people. That lady was awesome 👏🏻 😎
