As a replica of Bent's Fort, it's a cultural crossroads on the historic Santa Fe Trail. This area institution, which has been reviewed in the New York Times, serves up southwestern fare to everyone from lounging locals to heads of state including President Clinton during 1997's economic summit. Scrumptious servings of buffalo and elk tantalize the tongue. More traditional fare like salmon, filet mignon and even a vegetarian plate is also available. Open Monday to Friday at 5:30pm and at 5:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Very friendly, really cool place, Buffalo Filet was the best steak I've ever had.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a kind review, Charlie! We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Staff was attentive and very friendly. Service was on point and the meat was cooked to perfection! Oddly enough I can't stop craving the wonderful house salad
We went to The Forte this past Wednesday for dinner with a large group. We had reservations for 7:30, all of us we on time and yet we weren't seated til almost 8:00. The staff moved at such a slow speed, it took 20 minutes just to place our drink order and quite some time to receive them. The appetizers came out quickly but the salads and our actual meals took FOREVER!!! When the food did arrive, it was a HUGE disappointment with cold, old, crusty side dishes. One person in our group over heard a cook talking about his staff... read more
Went to the Fort Restaurant for a celebration dinner. The food was great, but I have an issue about the manner in which the restaurant "honors!" their patrons, by beating on a Native American drum in the stereotypical "tomtom" beat, chanting ???something and having said honoree don a wolf skin/buffalo cap. I am pretty thick-skinned, where ignorant people are concerned, but aren't we a little bit past this type of behavior? I hope this comment will open your eyes towards this issue, be assured I will be sharing this experienc... read more
Business response:

The owner is an advocate for Native causes and works closely with our Native communities. In fact, The Fort hosts one of the most authentic Indian Market Powwows, which welcomes more than 50 Native artists while more than 40 Indian Nation's gather to honor ... read more
