Re Justina Pelletier: I don't understand why a hospital of BC's stature has not long ago SOLVED this problem! Whether this child has mitochondrial disease or psychological disease (Tufts diagnosed it as the former.... by now, it is surely both), BC's approach sounds more egotistical than medicinal. I am not sure how you all sleep at night knowing that you took an innocent child from a loving home and from her parents that love her unconditionally. Prayers for Justina and her family! Parents don't take your children to this hospital.
How can a child be treated so horribly at one of the top children's hospitals? Justina has been diagnosed with a metabolic disease but her treatment has been withheld for over a year, resulting in a severe decline mentally and physcially. Not only has her quality of life been greatly affected but her lifespan has been probably been shortened. Please, please make it a priority to teach your personnel about mitochondrial disorders. I would never bring my children to your hospital. You violate the rights of parents because of your arrogance and pride. I encourage anyone to find a different place to take your children or else they may take your children. With the recent court decision, it proves that your hospital contributed to the abuse to a child and her family. I hope the family sues you, DCF and the State of Massachusetts and win to prove that you all trampled the rights of these people.
