My husband and I came to black hen bar blue for a New Years dinner and after the experience I’d be shocked if we return. Firstly, our meals were over cooked. The prime rib, which was supposed to be medium rare was medium, even almost medium well for my husband. And we would have relayed this to our waitress, but that brings us to the second, larger issue- we were ignored for about 75% of our time there. RecommendedFood was creative, different and delicious! The dining area is comfortable and intimate with indoor/outdoor eating and a cool bar (for when we can enjoy such pleasures again). Service was friendly and helpful. This is a great location for a date night or family celebration!

I had a wonderful stress free thanksgiving with my family thanks to the black hen bar and blue and bull and bones brewhause. The thanksgiving meal we purchased was absolutely incredible! Everything was perfect and I got to enjoy time with my family instead of spending my day in the kitchen. I hope you continue to offer this every year because we will definitely be ordering it again!

We have been regulars at Black Hen throughout its life span and really love the food, drinks and atmosphere. My favorite fine dining in all of Blacksburg. Last night we ate our first meal there since Chef T arrived. Amazing. Best ever. Every bite. Will be back because she’s changing up the menu every week. The selections are diverse and flavorful, with modern takes on comfort food as well as exotic dishes for the adventurous foodie. Good table distancing on patio. Please support this gem!
