bad vibes – The service was bad, prices high, drinks watered down and the music was bland. A lot of testosterone in that place too, not a very good place to meet women.
Lost its Charm – I was really looking forward to the re-opening of The Arsenal, I had been a customer for decades. Imagine my disappointment at discovering that my favorite restaurant had been converted into another snooty, martini-mill, lounge type restaurant. Lost was the real character of a true Westside institution. The food, cocktails, service and atmosphere that made The Arsenal, a locals favorite, have totally changed. The only thing that hasn't changed, but is most probably in need of changing, is the name.
At Last! – A friend took me to the Arsenal last month and I've been a fan ever since. It's the kind of bar I've been looking for since moving to Los Angeles. The food is good and fair priced, the drinks are mixed just the way I like them and the crowd is unbeatable. Another great thing about the place is the atmosphere, it's cozy and dark and feels like the kind of place that's been around forever. (Which according to the history written on the back of the menu, it has!) I work in the area and see that they are now open for ... read more
Ms. – I love this place. It's got a sleek lounge room, a cozy, dark dining room and a smoking patio. The weapons and whatnot on the walls in the dining room give it an irreverant, politically-incorrect sort of feel. DJ venue, funky jukebox. Good food, fun crowd.
New Find – Usually I stay around my old haunts, but a friend of a friend had us at the Arsenal for her birthday, and it was great. They re-opened recently and the food is much better, the service is good, and, most importantly, I like the way they redid the place. There're three big rooms--a kind of old-style LA lounge, a cool bar, and a smoking patio. They spent good money making this place eclectic and cool--so, predictably, this is my new haunt! Plus, the crowd is pretty young professional cool LA.
Calm and Collected – The menu had great choices. No fancy stuff which is refreshing for once. The food was tasty too. The service can be a little better - more smiles please. I like the minimalistic decor, but they could add a few more lights and get rid of black couches - no one was sitting on those....Valet should not close at 11pm!!!!
