In industrial applications, temperature is measured with resistance thermometers or thermocouples. Resistance thermometers accomplish this task via temperature-sensitive electrical thermistors. A distinction is made between PTC thermistors, whose resistance increases with increasing temperature and NTC thermistors with opposite behavior.
