Tello - what a find! Lit with candles and chandeliers, this cozy place has such a wonderful old-world feel that you may think you've walked onto the set of a Martin Scorsese film. A helpful staff serves up hefty portions (light on price) of well prepared Italian fare. Pasta is cooked al dente every time and the seafood is plentiful and fresh

sea you again – Mare is a haven for seafood lovers. There is about 14 different fish to choose from and about 10 east and west coast oysters. It was my first time here and not my last.
SEAFOOD LOVERS – I ate at Mare two times last week and both times it was very good. The seafood fresh and the oysters chilled and plump. The decor is great and the place is very cheerful.
Im a seafood lover – From the outside Mare looks like an old seafood shack im Maine. The seafood I sampled was just as good if not better then Maine. The monkfish with lobster sauce was out of this world. The skate fish special was the best fish I have ever tasted,I tried it here for my first time.I would come back every week but I live out of town.
oysters and more oysters – I could not believe the wide selection of east & west coast oysters at Mare.Ice cold and fresh, fresh, fresh.
A REAL ITALIAN – Tello s is a real Italian ristorante. Not Albanians or Yugos posing as Italians like most restaurants. The minute you walk in you could tell by the smell of food and the decor.
Absolutely Wonderful! – Viva Italia!!!!! This place is absolutely wonderful. Everything about Tello is great. The food, the service, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING!!! and best of all it is super affordable for NYC standards. A must go if you enjoy Italian food.
BEST OYSTERS – Im an oyster lover,I could eat oysters every day. There is not one restaurant that serves oysters that I have not been to.The large oyster selection at Mare is big.At least 7 east & 8 west coast to choose from.Their served ice cold and opened fresh and plump.Try the hood canal and the pearl point.
old world ambience – The review is right.Tello s is right out of a movie.Even before you enter, the outside of tellos looks like the front of a 1930s restaurant.Once inside the movie begins. The old juke box is playing my way by Frank Sinatra. The vintage chandeliers and wall sconces, old photos of actors, singers, gangsters, etc.Even the menu seems like it was from the good old days. Our waiter Gregg made the night when he heard a song playing and started to sing. The food was outstanding and the service is to rave about. If you want... read more
BEST PASTAS – I walk past Tellos all the time and look in and always find the place very busy.Last nite I decided to have dinner there.I was greeted by a big smile hostess.I sat down and ordered the rigatoni tello. It was very good, the pasta was cooked aldente the way I like it and the sausage was the best I ever had.I ordered a glass of chianti and then another one.The wine was very good to,for a pouring wine by the glass. Now I know why this place is always busy.
