8:12 a.m. CST> I called TCF after checking my bank account online and noticed there was an NSF fee of $37. Justine told me she saw what happened after reviewing my account and noticed there was a transaction of $7.99 that caused the overdraft. She went on to explain that the deposit from my employer was just shy of being to deposited to cover the transaction. I asked if she could reverse the fee in light of the circumstances. She said she would only be able to credit half of the $37 charge. I asked for a manager and she info... read more

TCF is terrible at processing. They processed everything backwards and in doing so slammed me with hundreds in overdraft fees. When I called to have this fixed, the rep told me the most she could give me was $63. They kept the other $150. This is the second time this has happened and the last time I had to file an official Complaint with the BBB in order for my funds to be returned. I should have known to leave them but my stupidity allowed me to believe it wouldn't happen again. Guess it is time to look for a new bank. I am... read more

This bank is involved in some dirty bank practices. They will find any way possible to charge you the most fees they can. The app and atms dont work have the time. And when they dont its your problem and not yours and they will charge you. I was double charged overdraft fees for the same three transactions. They closed all local branches, nearest one is forty five minutes away. I had to track down my own frauds on my account and then call for a week straight to get fees reversed. Customer service number is a joke.

Over the years, I have deposited around $10,000.00 a month into my TCF account. Lately, they have been going wild with NSF and overdraft fees. Today, I deposited money into my account, two hours later I was hit with 2 fees of around $70.00. The fees were pending this weekend but apparently did not show up on my account. I called to situate and no one can help me figure out where these invisible fees come from. TCF is a fradulent Bank. I will be taking my business elsewhere. They steal from their customers with no answers or ... read more

On April 22nd 2018 I received a call from the fraud department. They had questions on 3 transactions that pulled from my account within minutes of each other. I instantly pulled up my account online. Someone took over $400 dollars out of my account from Cicero IL. I told them I did not approve these transactions, and live no where near that location. TCF still allowed for the money to be pulled from my account. With everything I had pending from paying my bills it made my account go negative. I have made a police report, and... read more

After moving to the Twin Cities, I got a flyer in the mail with an offer to open a TCF bank account and get a free $250 pending either direct depositing $1000 or making $250 worth of payments out of the account. The flyer was just addressed to current resident at my new apartment. This flyer came at a good time as I needed a new bank in the Twin Cities as I have most of my money at a small town bank in Wisconsin. I went to the bank and had to wait over half an hour as there was a customer ahead of me and only one person work... read more

Once you have canceled credit card that's linked to checking account they still allow merchants to withdraw from account up to three weeks later after card was reported lost. They also have pending items that do not show on online banking or in account balances.

Tcf charged me $255 in excess withdrawal fees without telling me. They sent me a letter saying I am withdrawing from savings too many times a month and will take action against it by CLOSING my account (never mentioned any fees). Instead they charged me $15 SEVENTEEN times. They never informed me I would be charged (not even in the letter about the problem) and didn’t even show the fees on my account until the end of the year. The whole time I did not know and the charges were not even showing on my account. When I called I ... read more

Any kind of paper statements are very difficult to get from TCF bank Any loan pay off statement from TCF is very difficult as they try to give as hard time as possible. Monthly statements if they get lost in mail are hard to get by with TCF. Over all very bad bank experience. Wouldnot recommend to anyone.
