I read all the reviews on this site. I am a Canadian, and believe me, I have experienced the same issues. Most frustrating are the degraded quality of the clothing; mismanagement of inventory; and the very poor customer service. I started buying from Talbots online over 30 years ago. Right now, I have a $500 (US) order that was confirmed by Talbots over a month ago. I have received no further communication. Wow. Where to begin? First, the quality of the clothing. It used to be first-class – fabric, workmanship, details. But the last few years, the clothing is so cheaply made...knits especially. Every one of my Talbots T-shirts is now a pajama top (or a cleaning rag) because they are so misshapen after being laundered just a few times. And their promotions are just ridiculous. When I came across Talbots petite section I was on cloud 9. Due to the fact I had not found any stylish work clothes, especially blazers. I visited the Overland Park, KS location and no one asked me if I needed assistance. I made a purchase. From that day forth I said I would just shop Talbots online. I saw the item I purchased was now on sale. I contacted customer service and they advised me I had 14 days for a price adjustment. Talbots ... why do I NO LONGER love you? Let me count the ways INVENTORY issues. Shopping online and placing items in your cart is a bit like Russian roulette. Will the items actually make it to the FINISH line/be able to be bought? Not likely. All or some of the items are likely to disappear. REPEAT. Until you wise up and give up. PROMISES, PROMISES. I have been a Talbots customer for at least 30 years. We live in a small town about 1 hr. from the capital city. Most of those years I have been a very happy catalog shopper. My orders were always promptly delivered within 5 days, not spending money on faster delivery NOT NOW!!! Their delivery service is terrible. Talbots manipulates prices on ********. When you look at a clothing item on their **feed, they mark it down in the future for a day and if you go back the very next day to buy it, the price is now marked up to the original price. This happened to me this morning and when I just looked at my **it was partially marked down again. What kind of game are they playing on customers?
Placed an order via 800 # several days ago, customer service rep was very unprofessional and kept mixing things up over and over again - my ship to address (I was ordering from a catalog mailed to me!), my bill to address (same as ship), item numbers, etc. to the point that I KNEW the order would not be correct. Talbots is the worst about selling you items online that they don't actually have. Out of three items I purchased, two were "No Longer Available" and canceled from my order. I paid $8.00 shipping for the one item I would never have considered buying alone. They continued to sell one of the items on their website for over a week after canceling it from my order and that was not the first time that had happened to me with Talbots.
