Delicious! – I love Takashi! The atmosphere is great and the service is good - but best of all, the sushi is fantastic. Every time I go, I try something different and have yet to be disappointed. I recommend the Sunshine Roll, it's amazing. I suggest making a reservation (even on weeknights) as this place is usually pretty busy.
The Best Dining Experience! – I am visiting from Hollywood and I own a restraunt there. I have to say that I was so impressed with the food at Takashi, but even more so, the service. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly and although there was a wait, we were offered drinks and felt welcome by the hostess Wendy. She was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu and was very engaging. After telling her what our tastes were and what we liked, she made the most amazing intuitive suggestions that we would not have though... read more
Problems with sushi chefs.. – Yes, I finally went to Takashi. However, I was very disgusted. I set at sushi bar and saw sushi chefs making rolls, and I noticed that their chefs have some hygiene problem. There were literally a BLACK dirt underneath one of chef's nail.. it was noticible from sushi bar and you can tell how i was disgusted. Another than that, their sake was pretty good and fish was extremely fresh. However even their fish was fresh, anybody can tell that I would not go back to Takashi. Oh, another note- their h... read more
Best service, ambience, and sushi – Love this place! Took my wife for our anniversary on 12/2006 and we had the best time. We had to wait about 15" but we did not have a reservation and it was around 8:30pm so I can't complain about the wait. We sat in the bar and talked to the chef who was very cordial and helpful. The place is very nice and trendy and the sushi is great. We had six rolls and were impressed by the quality and price. Our waiter was the best I've ever had in a sushi restaurant and the whole experience was gre... read more
Incredible... – I am not a huge sushi fan, so going out to sushi with my friends is usually not too fun for me. Takashi makes this experience great. I had the most incredible steak there. It is great to go out, and enjoy a meal with all my friends.
fabulous sushi, great atmosphere – As a rabid sushi fan, I was truly impressed by the quality of the food at Takashi's. The nigiri was FABULOUS and the portions were good-sized without being hard to manage. The unagi and sake nigiri were the best I've had in Salt Lake, and the spicy hamachi maki was delectable. The Yellow Submarine roll was a great treat, but steer clear of the bland Philly roll and try something more adventurous. The miso was quite tasty, and the edamame was fresh and just salty enough. For less than $50, d... read more
Are we in SLC? – I took my husband last evening for his birthday. We wanted to go somewhere neither of us had ever been to before. Wow!! We were surprised to find Takashi in SLC!! What a cool, upbeat restaurant! There was no wait for a table, right on the window. Perfect. The waiter was over to get our drink and starters order. The food was delicious! We ordered small plates, various types of sushi, and dessert. All was fantastic!! And I fell that the prices were fair considering the freshness of the fish and other ingredien... read more
Way overrated. – I went on a busy Wednesday night based on the enthusiastic reviews here. But, I was dissappointed in the food. It's nowhere near the best sushi in town and I found it all rather average, despite a great location and ambiance. The tempura was very greasy, the specialty roll menu was awfully short, and the rolls we got just weren't very good. It's too expensive for just an average meal. Won't be going back.
Takashi's the best! – Takashi's sushi is wonderful, and their kitchen items are great, too. If you like real sushi, I'd recommend sitting at the sushi bar and have the sushi chefs make you nigiri-- they are the best. We've tried a few kitchen food from them and our favorite was the grilled scallops. Best in town!
